Immediate past secretary to state Government, Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel competent sources say yesterday had begged the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party for a waiver in order for him to take part in the forthcoming PDP nomination exercise billed in a month’s time. THE INK reporter learnt that contrary to information making the rounds that the former SSG was yet to pick his form, that he has actually done so since Friday afternoon. Our reporter was informed that the form was flown into Akwa Ibom through a Dana Airline in the company of Mr. Don Etim, Emmanuel Ibiok, Prince Akpabio and others who are loyal to the aspiration of the Zenith Bank Director.
Sensing that he may be an easy sweep over by the screening committee of the PDP, Mr Emmanuel is said to have submitted a letter to the PDP NWC pleading for a waiver to enable him contest the PDP primaries set for November 29th. The exercise is said to have been done yesterday. But the odds appear to be working against the interest of Udom who has since been ambushed with what supporters of the opposing camps described as evidence of forgery against the former SSG.
Whether the National leadership of the party will clear Mr. Udom to stand the nomination or not is what stakeholders in the Akwa Ibom project are waiting to see. But a statement credited to a former commissioner and a cousin to Obong Umana Umana, Mr. Samuel Frank points to the fact that Udom’s ambition may be blocked. Our reporter understands that contrary to what promoters of Udom have been posting on the position of the SSG in the ward register that it is false and Samuel Frank who hails from the same ward with Mr. Udom has been laying ambush for the Onna born banker.
Those who are close to Mr. Frank observes that the former commissioner for sports had hinted that Udom at no time had been the number three man on the register. They argued also that Udom’s name have never bneen on the register as they expressed fears that before being drafted into the race that the ex SSG must have been an ACN faithful coming from Lagos state.
THE INK learnt from very credible sources that in the event the PDP grants a waiver to Udom, he will be sued to court for forgery of his ward register.
