Wife of the governor and founder, Family Life Enhancement Initiative (FLEI) Mrs. Ekaette Unoma Akpabio has called on men in the state to take seriously their God-given responsibility of protecting, caring for and supporting their wives.
Mrs. Akpabio gave the charge during the funeral of the late multi-talented business mogul, Pa Okon Etim Umoadiaemu of Ikot Akpa Ekon, Nto Obio Ekong, conducted by the Methodist Church Nigeria, Urua Ekpa Mbiaso, Ikot Ekpene LGA over the weekend.
Mrs. Akpabio while speaking encouraged Akwa Ibom men to emulate the deceased whom she described as a classical example of a homemade husband and a father who was simple, honest, full of wisdom and courageous in his dealings while alive. She emphasized that the deceased was a shining example of one man one wife, adding that Pa Okon though strict and firm demonstrated the biblical injunctions of love, care and support to his wife which was manifest in his encouragement for his wife to acquire formal education.
The governor’s wife said these and other qualities were values that endeared late Pa Okon Etim to her heart noting that he will be greatly missed by all. She urged the family to take solace in the fact that their father had lived a purposeful life and that he is resting in the bosom of the lord.
The event was graced by several public officials led by the deputy governor of Akwa Ibom State, Lady Valerie Ebe who delivered a condolence message on behalf of the state government.
Pa Okon Etim Umoaiaemeu was born on 7th July 1949 and died on 17th August 2014 at the age of 65 leaving behind several children and grandchildren including Eno Nsentip Akabio, a sister in -law to Governor Godswill Akpabio.
