There was great joy and jubilation in the fami lies of Ambassador Sam Edem and Engr. Emem Akpanekong as their children, Mr. Aniekan Sam Edem and Miss Iniobong Okon Akpanekong, were joined together as man and wife in a solemnization of holy matrimony by the Christ Embassy, Uyo on Saturday January 10, 2015.
The colourful wedding, which was officiated by Pastors Emeka Nnabuko and Mfon Nnabuko respectively in the palatial church auditorium, witnessed a large turnout of members of both families, friends, associates of the couple, well wishers as well as church members.
Closely following the couple in their fashionable outfit, were their parents especially, Ambassador Sam Edem and wife, Doris, who wore a black suit on white shirt with bow tie and blue sequined velvet gown and matching accessories respectively.
In his exhortation the preacher charged the couple to always remember the word of God that has been spoken to them, knowing that the word of God which created everything can make their union a success.
Drawing his scriptural anchor from John 1: 1-14 and Gen.1:1-3, he posited that God’s word is the essence of life, admonishing them to appreciate the importance of God’s word because “without it you can do nothing as it has the monopoly of solutions to all issues of life”.
Furthermore, the man of God, submitted that the word of God can organize their marriage if the couple would apply scriptural principles in their union.
“The Holy Bible tells wives to submit to their husbands as the Church submits to the headship of Christ. Also, it charges husbands to love their wives even as Christ loved the Church unto death on the cross”.
“Therefore use God’s word to create a future you want to see”, he said, telling the groom specifically that “when you marry, it’s a woman you marry, but you can create a wife out of that woman you marry”.
The wedding ceremony was soon followed by a reception at the Sheer Grace Arena, Nsikak Eduok Avenue, Uyo, where guests were treated to sumptuously prepared dishes, assorted drinks and rib cracking jokes by the compere, Mr. Iniobong Monday.
