The member representing Eket in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Mr. Ayang Akanimo Ayang has appreciated women in his constituency for their commitment and unity of purpose in the outgoing year.
Mr. Ayang stated this at a get together organized by his wife, Jane for Women Leaders from various groups and organizations in Eket.
The lawmaker urged the women to translate the oneness into votes for Mr. Udom Emmsnuel in 2015 governorship election.
Mr. Ayang used the forum to thank Governor Godswill Akpabio for supporting a candidate from Eket Senatorial District and pledged the resolve of Eket people to embrace the gesture with maximum support.
A former minister, Chief Nduese Essien called on the people of Eket to collapse all political structures into one fold so as to vote massively for the election of Mr. Udom Emmanuel in February next year.
Obong Dr. Inam and Otuekong Joseph Ubokudom also praised Mrs. Ayang for the event and extolled the qualities of Udom Emmanuel which he hope will provide good governance come when elected and sworn into office as the Akwa Ibom State Governor.
The Eket lawmaker’s wife, Mrs. Jane Ayang stated that the get together for the women groups has become a culture in the past five years.
She commended the women for the harmony existing within them noting that the togetherness will mean well for the people of Eket in 2015.
Mrs. Ayang stated as women who have been giving birth to destinies, the women of Eket were in total support of a destiny in Mr. Udom Emmanuel in 2015.
She noted that the Akpabio administration has made women to be recognised in the forefront of politics and thanked the Governor and his wife, Mrs. Ekaette Unoma Akpabio for considering women in various appointments.
The wife of the PDP governorship standard bearer, Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel who was the special guest of honour at the get together, thanked the women of Eket for their involvement in politics and solicits their support so that they will not be disappointed when the husband is elected as the governor.
She said when elected, her husband will bring his good virtues to bear in the administration of the state for the common good of the people.
Mrs. Emmanuel donated bags of rice and cash for the women to celebrate the end of year.
In their goodwill messages, Obonganwan Ekaette Nduese Essien, Pastor Aniedi Usoro, Obonganwan Comfort Enodien and Mrs. Owoidighe Ekpoattai pledged the support of Eket Women towards ensuring that Mr. Udom Emmanuel’s mandate is actualized in 2015.
