ACA makes case for Udom Emmanuel

ACA makes case for Udom Emmanuel
On the wings of the forthcoming gubernatorial elections, a political platform set up for the realization of the governorship aspiration of Mr Udom Emmanuel, Akwa Ibom Consolidation Alliance (ACA) led by some members of its executives from Ikot Abasi extraction stormed the region recently canvassing support for its flag bearer.

In what was termed a “family meeting” that spanned across ten wards in the Local Government Area, the team sensitized participants on the essentials of aligning with the succession plan of Governor Godswill Akpabio, saying that it was in the overall interest of Akwa Ibom for Udom to be Governor Come 2015.

Describing Mr. Emmanuel as a stainless politician, a Former Commissioner, Assembly Service Commission and Coordinator of ACA, Ikot Abasi Chapter, Dr (Barr) Emmanuel Umana eulogized the SSG as “a new breed politician, possessing the ability to consolidate on the infrastructural strides of Akpabio through his robust roadmap to industrialise the State.

“Udom is an exceptional banker and we believe that his years of experience in the sector will translate into the uncommon industrialization of the State. He will empower youths and create employment in conjunction with the Central Bank through Federal Governments Micro credit scheme. Umana said

At Edem Aya ward 1, Umana who spoke in convincing terms announced to his audience that, “Udom will be Governor in 2015. ACA is that vehicle that will ride him to the corridor of power. Government is prosperity; we have decided to play to the centre.”

The ACA team which also had the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry in its entourage, Elder U. T Nkangudeh admonished members of the ward to key into the succession plan of government, stressing that: “We in the State executive council have chosen Udom because he is a man that fears God. He is transparent, stainless and capable of bearing the load of industrializing the State.
“Do not be dissuaded by rumours; we know what we have packaged through Udom for the people. As you can see, his exposure in the banking sector was instrumental in attracting the methanol project to Akwa Ibom.

“He knows where the capital is to float MSME because industrialization does not thrive on allocation alone. It requires a viable system of enhancing security for the growth of small scale businesses. His friendly disposition with his colleagues in the banking industry would give our industrial objectives an edge.

This is why I tell people that in this mathematics, we already have the answer and he is Udom Emmanuel”. Nkangudeh said.

A prominent member of the executive and Federal Commissioner, Public Complaint Commission, Hon. Chelly Okoko also called on members of the constituents to come together and deliver Udom for Akwa Ibom in the upcoming general elections.
Okoko said: “The political fortune of Ikot Abasi has been on a downward slide because all along, we have always played anti-government. Every political season, they say that Ikot Abasi is going to produce a governor but since 1999 we have not benefitted from government in terms of the spate of political appointments.

“Ikot Abasi used to be the Headquarters of politics but today the kind of politics we played has removed us from the favour of government. We want to play a key role in bringing in the next government so that we can regain our leadership in the Federal Constituency and Senatorial District.

“It is sad that for 12 years Ikot Abasi has not been represented in the State House. We want to change the trend, play politics that would favour the people and this time we will play with gusto and power. ACA is the vehicle that will bring the new governor just as it took Jonathan to Aso rock. Only this time, Ikot Abasi is going to book first class.” Okoko continued.

In his address, Elder Joe inyang appealed to the people of Edem aya ward 3 to tap into the opportunity which comes once in 8 years adding that; ACA would succeed in its bid to bring Udom to government house in 2015.

A former commissioner in the Niger Delta Development Commission, Obong Nsima Etukakpan who is a prominent member of the alliance urged his audience to give total support for Udom’s aspiration saying that: “the way of Udom is the best.

“Don’t let anybody deceive you, Udom is the choice. According to the zoning rotation, it is the turn of Eket Senatorial District (ESD) to produce the next governor. See the vibration of the party and stay away from rumour.” He said
Etukakpan who underscored the capacity government possesses to cause development as massive called on Wards to insist on Udom stressing that he is the right man to succeed Gov. Akpabio.

In the same stride of widely held consultations, Woman leader in ward 2, Mrs. Smart in her response promised the continued support of women to Government’s succession plan while calling for efforts to be geared in the area of women empowerment.

“No woman has driven a car from the government in this ward in 8 years because we have always played the wrong kind of politics. This time around we do not want to be left behind. This is why we have followed in the footpaths of our mother, the governor’s wife in appreciation for the good things she has done for the widows and women in Akwa Ibom. It is this same solidarity that we intend to give Udom’s wife.” She said.

At Edem aya ward 3, Hon. Iniubong Udoh tasked the audience on the futility of fighting with government. “You can’t fight against government. This is why we are here with all our leaders in Ikot Abasi to urge you to queue behind government for the realization of Udom’s mandate.”

A youth leader in the ward, Comrade Murray Ntuenibok was one of those who pledged total support for government’s succession plan saying: “when the righteous is on the throne, the people rejoice. I am happy to be part of this epoch-making event for the support of Udom.

“Let government create jobs. Youths will not tout if they are gainfully employed. We have made our decision to support Udom all the way.”Ntuenibok said

Lending his voice to the wave of support for the SSG’s ambition, a political stalwart in Ikot Abasi, Obong W. Essien likened the succession contest to the stewardship of Elisha to Elijah in the bible. “When Elijah was going to be taken away, the mantle of leadership had to pass on to Elisha despite the envy of others.

“We are determined to support government in its efforts to bring our brother from neighbouring Onna to be governor. Because we seek to champion a good cause for the future of our children and Ikot Abasi we have adopted Udom Emmanuel as our consensus candidate.” He said

At the end of the tour, Barrister Umanah told newsmen that: “Akpabio has a stake in who becomes the next governor. We want to bring a leader who would put back into the community.” The legal practitioner remarked.

Stressing on the importance of a unity government that would incorporate the victors and vanquish after the election, Umana added: “the symbol of PDP is the umbrella. ACA will carry everybody along. Governor Akpabio has shown this in the inclusion of his political opponents in the affairs of government.”
