It was a memorable consultation for the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Pastor Ita Udoh as the entire stakeholders, women as well as youths of Esit Eket Local Government Area declared their unalloyed support to his aspiration to become the next Governor of Akwa Ibom state come 2015.
The consultation which took place last Sunday at the residence of Chief S. B. Akanksi, alias, Bureau Chief at Uquo Community had in attendance, PDP stakeholders, decision makers of the area, Council Vice Chairman of Esit Eket, all Councilors, Elders, Women as well as youth. The Party PDP also had a strong representation.
Addressing the crowed, Pastor Ita Udoh said that that visit was to officially consult the people of Esit Eket and intimate them of his aspiration to become the next governor come 2015. He stressed the need for the people of the area to rise up and support his ambition as he his convinced that he will be sworn in as Godswill Akpabio’s successor come 29 May, 2015.
While describing Chief Akanksi’s residence as the centre of politics in Esit Eket L.G.A, Ita Udoh said having severed in the state executive council for the past four years, he knows the workings of government and has gained experiences to govern the state and also promised to take Akwa Ibom to the next level.
The culture and Tourism commissioner promised to fast track developmental projects in the area and described Esit Eket as an industrial hub of Akwa Ibom State. According to him, I am in Esit Eket to let you people know that where the seaport is finally going to be located favours Wsit Eket people which is Okposo and you people should rise up and work as well as support my aspiration.
He maintained that with him as the governor, Akwa palm estate that has been abandoned for some years now will be reactivated and that the oil palm Estate has the capacity of employing more that 2,000 people to work, adding that his administration will ensure that Esit Eket produce palm oil for domestic consumption and for export to International companies.
On the gas plant at Esit Eket, the governorship hopeful promised o expand the gas plant which according to him many companies will be brought in and more jobs opportunities will be created in the state. Udoh who is an educationalist promised to build a model secondary school in Esit Eket that will attract children from other parts of the state even as he also promised to turn the area into a small city. The Eket born-politician further disclosed that roads in Esit Eket will be dualized and that the area stands to benefit a lot from his administration.
For the youths in the state, the former Commissioner for Youth and Sports said he will establish Youths development bank, where youths will access loans without collateral and the money will enhance growth in businesses for youths of Akwa Ibom State.
In his words “I am qualified to be the next governor and I will slug it out with anybody. I came here today to seek for support from the people of Esit Eket, especially in prayers. I will turn Esit Eket to a major city by working on some roads with street lights, expand the Ibom gas plant, bring in more industries and also revamp the abandoned oil palm estate. If I become the governor come 2015, jobs opportunities will be created for the people of Esit Eket in particular and the state in general”
The man of God used the opportunity to advised his supporters to desist from any violence act, but rather embrace peace as there is no need for quarrel amongst supporters of different camps even as he pleaded with those that will emerge delegates at the PDP primaries to always consider voting for him to emerge the party’s flag bearer come November 29, 2014.
Speaking on behalf of the party, the Deputy Chairman of PDP in Esit Eket chapter, Hon. Edy Etangnkanga expressed the happiness to see an Eket son aspiring for the number one political office in the state and commended Ita Udo for his courage to enter the race. Etangnkanga who represented the chapter Chairman promised that the party will give every aspirants a level playing ground even as he wish the governorship hopeful victory at the poll.
Chief S. B. Akanksi, a PDP stakeholder in the area while welcoming the aspirant, said he was delighted to see the likes of pastor Ita Udoh vying for the governorship ticket and promised to support him even as he said the party stakeholders had given Ita Udoh the blessings and promised to mobilize all stakeholders in the area to queue behind the aspirant.
Also speaking, Elder A. U. Abia assured Ita Udoh of victory in the area and urged the aspirant to go back and work hard to ensure victory at the polls.
Chief Udo Owong and Chief Etim Awana in their separate speeches promised to mobilize for Ita Udoh for him to win the area, while Mr. Nyak David Udo who spoke on behalf of the youths expressed happiness that Ita Udo had entered the race and promised to mobilized youths to rally round the aspirant.
Speaking for the women, Obonganwan Grace Ikot also promised to mobilize all the women to queue behind the culture and tourism commissioner. Those who attended the consultation were: Former Council Chairman of the area, Hon Victor Isangedighe, Hon. O. B. Ekong, Chairman of all the ward chairmen, Mr. Udua kpa, Elder A. U. Abia, Chief Bassey Eto, Dr. O. D. Uwah, Chief O. N. Ubong, Elder Maurice Edoho, Chief Inyang Essien Inyang, Hon. Imo Edet Jonah amongst others.
