The Akwa Ibom State Chapter of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has been directed to constitute an electoral committee within one week to conduct elections into the State Executive Committee by first week of December 2016.
This was made known during the South-South zonal meeting of the sports writers association held in Uyo recently. The body also made numerous resolutions during the annual zonal meeting.
In a communiqué signed by the Communiqué Drafting Committee with Mr Alambo Datonye as Chairman, Mr Solomon Bassey, Secretary and Mr. Jude Agbeyeke as member, and made available to THE INK, the number one sports writing association in the country resolved to strengthen its membership through sustained capacity building and training of members.
They further resolved to constitute a zonal advisory committee comprising former Vice Presidents/Chairmen from the zone in line with the National Executive Council.
The various state chairmen were directed to constitute an advisory Committee in their respective states comprising former Chairmen and an Elders Council comprising veterans who have promoted the cause of SWAN in their states. Furthermore, each state in the zone was directed to forward to the Zonal Office a comprehensive list of financial and committed members before the end of the year 2016.
Members of the association were informed of plans to publish a compendium of all registered SWAN members in the country which will be forwarded to all the Sports Ministries and Commission as well as media houses. Each state was directed to organize a SWAN platform where they can interact and interface with stakeholders.
