Academic Don goes to church in thanksgiving

Academic Don goes to church in thanksgiving
It was a row call of the creme de la creme of Christian Faithfuls, Academicians, Relations, Business Associates, Friends and Well-wishers etc, as they all gathered Yesterday, at Church of Christ, Four towns in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State Capital, in a thanksgiving service organized in honor of Dr. Obot Ekpo Essien who has just being conferred with a Professional honor as a Professor of the Department of Agriculture and Food Engineering by the University of Uyo.

The Academic Don, Prof. Essien who is equally an Elder in the Church of Christ, Four towns, Uyo, had gathered his family to give thanks to God for the journey so far. The event which was under the chairmanship of Elder Edet Ayara was colourful with glitz and glamour.
The mammoth crowd was thrown deep into ecstasy. It was a special moment for the Christian Family who puts all their hope and trust in God. The ambience was well adorned with candour and grace. What to eat and drink was surplus. Happiness was in the air. Consequently, it was also a moment to make reference to God’s unending benevolence to the noble family of Prof. (Elder) Obot Essien; a hard working, vissionary, intellectual, Godfearing husband, father, community leader, family head, who has continued to soar higher on the wings of grace. Prayers were offered for the noble family at every point of the event.

However, in the citation presented about Prof. Essien to the elated crowd, it was noted that Prof. Essien who is on the zenith of his career was born 65years ago in the faraway land of Ekimbuk in Ibiono Ibom L.G.A of Akwa Ibom State. He entered University of Uyo as a Senior Lecturer in 1999 and before being promoted to Associate Professor in 2010, he was acting HOD in 2008, in the Department of Agriculture and Food Engineering and consequently promoted to the rank of a Professor in 2013.

In his Speech, the man of the moment who was visibly elated gave out his heart to the crowd. He thanked them for coming out to share in his joy and to give thanks to God. “The journey has not being rosy but the point is; we should never give up, always put our trust in God and follow Him to the end”, he admonished. He equally noted that the celebration serves as a testimony of God’s promises in his life while advising everyone to always return thanks to God at every station of their lives.
