2016 Conference of Technologists begins in Uyo

The 2016 Conference of Technologists (CONFOTECH) and Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Nigerian Association of Technologists in Engineering (NATE) will begin in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, on Wednesday, November 9, 2016. 

The Conference which is holding at Ibom Hall, IBB Avenue, Uyo, has as its theme, “Bridging the Gap of Nigeria’s Economy with Modern Technology’. 

A release signed by the National Secretary General, Engr. Ekpenyong Ekpenyong and the Vice President, South-South, indicates that the event will be declared open on Thursday, November 10, 2016, by the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel by 10am. 


The release listed the Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Moses Ekpo as Guest of Honour, the Speaker, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Onofiok Luke as the Chairman of the Opening Ceremony, and the Managing Director, Okon Engineering Automation Technology Ltd, Lagos as the Co-Chairman.

The release observed that the Conference will boost and stimulate the economy of Akwa Ibom State and particularly noted that it will have far-reaching impacts on the Hotel and Tourism sector. 

The release listed some of the major highlights of the Conference to include lectures and paper presentation by seasoned academics and Engineers, including Prof. Engr. Charles Uko of the University of Uyo; Courtesy visit to the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, paying of traditional homage to the Ntisong Ibibio, Ntisong (Dr.) Essien Ekidem, the Ntisong Ibibio III and facility tour of Ibom Power Plant and visit to project sites in the State. 

It enjoined all government ministries and parastatals, industries and private sector businesses to sponsor their staff to the Conference.
