Senate confirms Buhari’s nominees for INEC
Chief Emenike, husband to Ambassador nominee ; Rt Hon lsmaila kawu, SSAP-House of Representatives ; INEC nominee for Northwest, Mr Haruna and the SSAP - Senate, Senator Ita Enang at the white House today.
The senate committee on INEC on Tuesday screened and confirmed the six National commissioners appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari and ratified by state council for the Independent National electoral commission (INEC) from the six Geopolitical Zones. 

The President had on September 27,2016 forwarded to the Senate six board members of INEC for confirmation. There are :

Prof. Okechukwu Obinna Ibeanu - Anambra (South-East) ; Bar May I. Agbamuche-mbu - Delta (South South) ; AVM Ahmed Tijani mu’azu - Gombe (North-East) ; Mr Mohammed kudu Haruna - Niger (North-Central) 
; Dr Adekunle Ladipo Ogunmola - Oyo (South-west) ; Engr. Abubakar Ahmed Nahuche - Zamfara (North-East) 


Addressing the nominees before the screening, the chairman, Senate committee on INEC, Sen. Abubakar Kyari said after due consultation with the Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters-Senate,Sen Ita Enang, the Senate was able to collect Curriculum Vitae of nominees, saying that he had no doubt the committee would do the needful to ensure smooth screening. Senator Kyari also advised the nominees to feed the committee with corrects information about their persons as whatever they say would be recorded in the annals of history. 

Presenting the nominees to the committee, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters-Senate, Senator Ita Enang commended the committee for allowing him the privilege to appear before them with nominees of Mr President. He said the nominees were screened and approved by the National Council of State and they have passed all screenings by security agencies as required by law. 

The first to be screened was Bar. May I. Mabuchi-mbu, Bar May was until her appointment the legal editor for the Thisday newspaper. She informed the committee that the experience garnered in legal laws throughout the years would aide her job as a member of the board of INEC. 

The second nominees screened was Dr Adekunle Ladipo Ogunmola, he has served the country as a two times state commissioner of  INEC in Ogun and Ekiti states. 

Others were Prof. Okechukwu Obinna Ibeanu, a former Special Adviser to INEC chairman on technical Matters; Air Vice Marshall Ahmed mu’azu ; Mr kudu Haruna, a journalist/ columnist and Engr. Abubakar Nahuche, an ICT expert. 

At the end of the screening, the chairman of the committee, Senator Kyari commended the SSAP and the nominees for the ways and manners they responded to questions, saying that the committee will submit the report to the Senate committee of the whole for consideration and approval. 

The SSAP, Senator Ita Enang thanked the committee for taking great times and interest to screened the nominees.said questions raised showed their depth knowledge about their assignments and functions.
