Elders of Midim Ward 2 in Abak Local Government Area have pledged their total and unalloyed support to the State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel to enable him succeed in his industrialization and wealth creation policy.

The Elders made their position known during an enlarged meeting of Midim Ward 2 Elders Forum which took place at Abak over the weekend.

Addressing the meeting, the Political Leader of the Ward and Transition Committee Chairman for Abak, Dr. Emmanuel Udosen expressed gratitude to the State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel for the numerous achievements he has recorded in the state despite the economic challenges.


Dr. Udosen noted that the industrialization policy of Mr. Udom Emmanuel’s administration when becoming operational, would create job opportunities to indigenes of the state and should be supported by all to succeed.

The Abak Local Government Transition Committee Chairman assured the State Governor that the people of Midim Ward 2 will continue to support his administration beyond 2019, describing him as the best man for Akwa Ibom now.

He pointed out that Midim Ward 2 has been very consistent in supporting the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) since the return of democracy to the country and just as they did in 2015, Midim Ward 2 would return 100 percent votes to Mr. Udom Emmanuel in 2019.

Dr. Udosen assured that as the Transition Committee Chairman for Abak, he will not let the people down, but will continue to attract dividends of democracy to his people.

Also speaking, the Chairman Midim Ward 2 Elders Forum, Elder Christopher Obot Utibe said the people of Midim Ward 2 will continue to remain grateful to the State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel especially for appointing an indigene of the Ward, Dr. Emmanuel Udosen as a two-term Transition Committee Chairman for Abak Local Government Area.

Elder Obot Utibe also thanked the Governor for giving the people of Abak Local Government area the first Deputy Governor in their history in the person of Mr. Moses Ekpo whom he noted has made the people of Abak proud by giving strong support to the Governor to enable him succeed in his industrialization and wealth creation policy.

The Elders Forum Chairman assured the State Governor and his Deputy of the continuous support of the people of Midim Ward 2 to the present administration and prayed God to give them more wisdom to discharge their duties effectively.
He however appealed to the Governor for more appointment and employment opportunities to be given to indigenes of Midim Ward 2, since according to him, the people of the Ward have not been considered for appointment into any key position for the past 19 years.

Elder Obot Utibe thanked the Transition Committee Chairman, Dr. Emmanuel Udosen for not disappointing the people of Midim Ward 2 in particular and Abak Local Government in general.

The Elders Forum Chairman commended Dr. Udosen for the achievements he has so far recorded. He listed some of the achievements to include; restoring the lost glory of Abak through the “Operation Keep Abak Clean”, youths and women empowerment, massive grading of roads, encouraging grassroot sports development, facilitating the siting of Tilapia Island Resort, provision of bore-hole water at Abak abattoir among others.

Elder Obot Utibe described the Transition Committee Chairman’s vision to complete the Abak Local Government Council Secretariat which work is presently ongoing as a welcome development, worthy of commendation.

The Elders Forum Chairman promised that they will continue to stand by their Political Leader to give the State Governor 100 percent support.

Present during the meeting were: the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Abak Chapter, Dr. Mike Udo, former Council Secretaries, Obong Ifiok Ibanga and Deacon Kopimoh Ezekiel, former Councilor, Barr. Cyprain Udosen, State Chairman Civil Society of Nigeria, Mr. Richard Wilson, a retired Director (SUBEB), Snr. Apostle Francis Akpan, Chief Dominic Akpan Umoh (JP), Prince Felix Eshiet, Mr. Ben Ebong among others.
