The umbrella organisation of Ikot Abasi people, Mboho Ikot Abasi, last Saturday in the council hall of the local government secretariat elected and inaugurated a 16-man executive council to manage its affairs.
The election which was adjudged the most free and credible, produced the following officers: Hon Ufot Frank Enoidem- President General, Mr Isa Daniel Isa –vice President 1, Engr. Nsima Edittu- vice President 2, Barr Cyprian Ikwot- secretary general, Mr Segun Umoetuk- assistant secretary 1, Hon Emmanuel Genesis- assistant secretary2 , Prince Anthony Ekpe – publicity secretary 1, Mr Enobong Luke Akpan- publicity secretary 2
Others were: Mr Abasiakan Udodok- financial secretary, Obong Henry Akpaneyen- Treasurer, Mr Friday Ntteh-Auditor, Obong Aniefiok Brown Akpan- Auditor 2, Mr Enobong Jackson Umoh- Provost 1, Hon. Akpan Ukpeye- provost 2, Barr. Udauk Ekanaem – legal advicer 1 while Barr. Otu Etukudoh was elected and sworn-in as legal advicer 2.
The officers were elected by a one hundred- member electoral collage, comprising ten delegates per clan as well as ten observers , led by Professor Leo Ukpong, dean of faculty of business studies, University of Uyo while the innuaguration was conducted by a renowed legal practitioner and a former Nigerian Bar association (NBA) chairman Eket chapter, Barr livinus Udofia.
In his post inaugural speech, Enoidem appreciated Mboho for finding him fit to be their president and vowed to justify the confidence reposed on him even as he solicited for support and cooperation to achieve the goals and objectives of the Mboho.
Members who spoke to our reporter poured enconiums and lavished praises on the electoral commission chairman and a former commissioner with Akwa Ibom State independent electoral commission AKISIEC, Hon Mathias Idiong, for conducting a credible, peaceful and a fair election. They thanked him for bringing his wealth of knowledge and experience to bare.
Earlier in his valedictory remarks, the immidate past President general, Dr.Donatus Uko appreciated the Mboho giving him the opportunity to serve Ikot Abasi even as he wished the new exco a meritorious tenure.
Highpoint of the event was the annual general meeting of Mboho IKot Abasi, presided over by the new president general and entire exco.
