In a bid to make the Ember months peaceful, the Nigerian Police, Abak Division in conjunction with the Community Policing Partners on Sunday organized a novelty football match between Young Stars Football Club of Abak and the Police Machine Team of Abak.
The novelty football match which attracted a large turn out of spectators, took place at Government Primary School, No 1 Abak Town. The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of the Division, CSP Iraboh led other officers and men of the Division to cheer the Police Machine. Team while the Executive Director Community Policing Partners, Saviour Akpan Esq performed the kick off of the well-publicized encounter.
Speaking with Journalists, the DPO, CSP, Irabor said the main reason for organizing the novelty football match was to bring the youths closer to the Police so as to make the Ember months peaceful devoid of violence and criminalities.
CSP Irabor beaming with enthusiasm, commended the Community Policing Partners for partnering with the Police to make the Operation Peaceful Ember Months successful.
The DPO also lauded the Member representing Abak State Constituency in Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Elder Friday Iwok, Barr. Imoh Williams and Young Chief for the contributions toward the success of Operation Peaceful Ember Months.
Also speaking, the Executive Director, Community Policing Partners, Saviour Akpan Esq. who performed the kick off, pointed out that the novelty match was aimed at making the public especially the youths to know that Police is their friend.
Saviour Akapn Esq. commended the State Commissioner of Police and the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Abak Division for approving the hosting of the novelty match.
The renowned Human Right Activist saluted the two teams for the high standard of play exhibited by them and called on the public to partner the Police in curbing criminality in the society.
At the end of the highly entertaining encounter, Young Stars of Abak defeated their Police Machine counterpart by a lone goal scored in the first half of the encounter.
Some of the spectators who spoke with our reporter, commended the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Irabor for introducing new innovations aimed at curbing criminalized as well as bringing the public closer to the Police.
The described the encounter as unprecedented in the history of the area and called for more of such encounter. They promised to join hands together with the DPO and Community Policing Partners to enable the Operation Peaceful Ember Months to succeed.
