Uphold Unity, Gov’s wife tells Socio-Cultural Group

Akwa Ibom State governor’s wife Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel has charged the women wing of Akwa Esop Imaisong Ibibio not to deviate from the foundation of its forebears which was hinged on unity.

Mrs. Emmanuel gave the charge when she received a delegation of the group in her office led by the President, Her Excellency,Mrs. Nne Isong, wife of the erstwhile governor of Cross River State.

She noted that the group remains an advisory platform for promoting peace and progress, and urged them to continue in their role of promoting unity in the state.


The First Lady also said as mothers in the state, they were saddled with the responsibilities of mentoring the younger generations for optimal benefits of the society. 

Mrs. Emmanuel, who frowned at the decline of moral values among youths in the state, tasked the socio-cultural group to work towards inculcating morals in women especially the girl-child in our society. 

She also stressed that for the state to attain its desired prosperous status, all forms of hatred and divisive tendencies among citizens must be eschewed.

Earlier, the President of the group Her Excellency, Mrs. Nne Isong in her remarks appreciated the governor’s wife for granting the group audience despite her tight schedule and promised to partner with the present administration to move the State forward.

She informed the governor’s wife that the group was founded on the core values of promoting unity and progress among all in the state, adding that since inception, it has recorded huge successes in this regard.

Highpoint of the visit was the decoration of the governor’s wife as the Patron of the group.
