Production of copies of Laws: AKHA to partner Info Ministry

The Speaker, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Barr. Onofiok Luke has stated the readiness of the 6th assembly to partner the Ministry of Information and Communications, as well as the state government press in the production of copies of laws passed by the House for public access.
Speaking Monday in his office while receiving the first National Vice-President of the Nigeria Bar Association, NBA, Barr Francis Ekwere when he led members of staff of his law firm on a courtesy visit to the Speaker, Barr Luke said “It is part of our legislative agenda to make the local government administrative law and other laws passed by the House, available to members of the public. We are going to address this; we are going to make sure laws passed here are accessed by the populace’’. Barr. Francis Ekwere is currently the Principal Partner at Ekwere Ekwere & Associates

The Speaker said further that the 6th assembly will partner government printer and Ministry of Information and Communication in its bid to ensure the printing of the laws passed by the House and make them available to the public. He solicited close partnership with the law firm for the overall benefit of the current House of Assembly.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Barr Ekwere said they were in the Speaker’s office to felicitate and share fellowship with Hon Luke whom they described as their own member of staff, on his elevation to the position of Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly. They described Barr. Luke as the right man for the job.
“We came here this morning to felicitate and share fellowship with you, and to tell you that we are solidly behind you. Rt. Hon. Barr. Onofiok Luke cut his law teeth in our firm; he practiced in our chambers. His elevation as Speaker did not come to us as a surprise because of his antecedents. His elevation came at the right time. Your pedigree as legal practitioner is going with you into your new office.”
The lawyers called for the involvement of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, in the nomination of lawyers into government boards, commissions and agencies, including, the Judicial Service Commission.
Barr. Ekanem who is a law lecturer at the University, described Rt. Hon. Luke as a man of resilience and hardwork, and assured him of their prayers as he pilots the affairs of the House.
