Apostolic Church proclaims Apostle Ikpe’s death

... Ex Field Superintendent for burial February


The Apostolic Church Nigeria, Akwa Ibom territory has announced the demise of its Uyo Field Superintendent (Rtd), Apostle (Dr.) Amos Metz Ikpe. The Chairman of Akwa Ibom Territorial Council, Apostle Aniekan O. Udoiyak and other council members of the Apostolic Church broke the news to newsmen last Tuesday at Uyo Field Headquarters Obio Imo Street, Uyo in a press release.

In a voice laden with grieve; Apostle described the death of Apostle Dr.  Amos Metz Ikpe as a great loss to the Apostolic Church but noted that since it has pleased God to take him now, “to God be the Glory.’’ “Our only regret is that with his retirement, we had hoped that God would sustain his life for him to serve as a repository of knowledge, ideas and custodian of the old order for this generation. But since God loves and needs him now, we can only say “To God be the Glory.’’
The release stated that Apostle Amos Ikpe passed-on on Sunday 13th December, 2015 leaving behind his wife, Deaconess Eno Ikpe, children, relatives and numerous flocks in the church. The burial arrangements as announced by the National Executive Council indicates that Night of Songs will hold at Uyo Field Temple by 5pm daily from Monday 22-Wednesday 24th February, 2016.
Lying-in-State is on Thursday February 25, 2016 at Field Superintendents’ Court from 4pm till dawn. Commendation Service on Friday February 26 commences by 8am at The Uyo Field Temple of TACN while the final obsequies will be conducted at Uyo Township Stadium by 10am. The Interment holds at Akpasak Efa, Etinan Local Government Area by 3pm.
Apostle Amos Ikpe had his education at Mbioto Town and Mbioto Central Schools respectively and obtained Standard Six certificates in 1949. He later attended developed himself by attending Bible Training Centre (now apostolic bible College), Obot Idim Nsit, Nsit  Ibom Local Government Area in 1963 through 1965 where he obtained a certificate in Theology. As a result of his versatility in the area of his calling, Apostle Ikpe was awarded an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Theology by the Cornerstone Theological Seminary of Jerusalem, Israel and USA in 1994.
Apostle Ikpe was baptised into the faith in 195 and has faithfully served in all offices in the church vis-à-vis, Deacon, Elder, Worker, Pastor and Apostle in the body of Christ. He has served as Area Superintendent, Regional Superintendent, Field Superintendent, Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Joint Fields Council, Member of the National Executive Council and Chairman, National Finance Committee of the Apostle Church, Nigeria.
He was called into God’s vineyard in December, 1961 during the then Area Convention (now Field Convention) at Calabar and was ordained a full time District Pastor in 1965. From that humble beginning, he was elevated to the position 8o8f8 a sup8ervisor in 1978, made an Apostle in 1984 and was saddled with the responsibility of an Area Superintendent in 1985. He was appointed a Regional Superintendent for Etinan Regional Centre in 1995 and the 1st Uyo Field Superintendent in December, 2001, apposition he occupied till his retirement in October 5, 2015, having served the Lord diligently for 53 years.
