APCOTMA Eket Senatorial District rally support for Gov. Udom, assures him of victory

BY ASSAM ABIA

The Akwa Ibom Progressive Commercial Trycycle, Taxi, Motorcyclist Association (APCOTMA), Eket Senatorial District has assured Governor Udom Emmanuel of victory in an event of a re-run election in the State. The group which took part in the just concluded solidarity rally organized for Udom Emmanuel in Eket Stadium on Saturday called on the Governor not to loose sleep over the on-going legal battle instituted by the All Progressive Congress (APC) Guber candidate, Obong Umana Okon Umana to unseat him.
Speaking on behalf of members, Comrade Samuel Bassey Peter, Co-ordinator Eket Senatorial District, said the people of the State had on April 11, 2015, given Deacon Udom Emmanuel the mandate to Govern the State and that the mandate is irrevocable.

He described the on-going legal battle against Udom as an unnecessary waste of time and distraction, retrogressive against the State, adding that it has been agreed and established that now is the turn for Eket Senatorial District to produce a governor for the State.
Comrade Samuel Bassey called on the Supreme Court to uphold the mandate Akwa Ibom people gave Udom in the April 2015 poll, to save the State from avoidable violence and deaths that may result from re-run, adding further that Akwa Ibom Politics has become a do or die affair, thereby causing tension and bad blood amongst the people.
“A guber re-run in Akwa Ibom State will amount to waste of resources, valuable manpower and possible casualties when it is a known fact that P.D.P will still win at any given time”, Peter said.
He averred that, the billions of Naira that would be used in conducting “an unnecessary” election in the 31 Local Government Areas of the State can be channeled into employment generation for the teeming unemployed youths in the country.
“Let us look at the amount of money and lives lost in the Bayelsa re-run in just one Local Government Area and some units in a few local government areas, we will find the folly in a do or die politics”, he said.
Comrade Samuel Bassey called on the All Progressive (APC) gubernatorial candidate, Obong Umana, not to over heat the polity with words detrimental to the unity and peace of the State, stressing that the APC flagbearer is trying to destroy what he himself assisted in building over the years.
Meanwhile, the APCOTMA leader has called on the members of the Association in Eket Senatorial District to remain focused and obedient to regulations governing the body and as well be loyal to the administration of Governor Udom Emmanuel.
“APCOTMA is a law abiding Association and we must individually and collectively fight against crime in our respective units, we must not allow ourselves to be used by unscrupulous politicians and above all, we must be loyal to the administration of Governor Udom Emmanuel because we voted him into power”, he said.
