Inibehe Ukpanah tournament: Keen stars emerges 1st

Keen Stars of Nsekhe community in Ukanafun took the first position in the Inibehe 5th edition of Inibehe Ukpanah Tournament while Ukanafun Edem Inyang came second.  The finals which took place on 31st of December came after some 6 community football teams, Ndot Ikot Eda, Nto Edet, Abat, Nung Ita Nkek Abak and Nung Ita had crashed earlier crashed out. Presenting a trophy to the leading stricker, the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Education, Elder Aniekan Akpan who supported the competition with cash charged the youth to grab the ample opportunity to develop their talents in sports as the State Government is determined to encourage and promote sports development. The Commissioner explained that approval for the building of ultra-modern sports academy had since been given by Governor Udom Emmanuel. He reiterated the readiness of the State Government to motivate outstanding performers. He called on well – to – do individuals and other stakeholders to patronize and promote sports development just like Engr. Inibehe Ukpanah has been doing.

The Commissioner, who harped professional football game as a goldmine congratulated Keen Stars of Nsekhe who floored Ukanafun Edem Inyang in a penalty shoot – out urged them to keep the flag flying.
Speaking before performing the kick – off Hon. Ekerette Ekerette Commended the sponsor of the tournament for his effort in encouraging young people to develop their talents in sports.
Earlier in his speech a community leader in Nsekhe, Mr. Aniefiok Udotong advised the youths to be law-abiding, adding that the youths should embark on activities that would promote the good name of the community. He warned them against restiveness, cultism and avoid temptations like pride, arrogance and youthful exuberance associated with growing age.
Also addressing the youths, Engr. Ukpanah urged the youths to think creatively to attract individual prosperity and community development.
He expressed appreciation to the participating teams and expressed the hope that more talents would be developed by their active participation.
High point of the event was the presentation of trophies to the winners, and cash to all participating teams.
