Wednesday’s sitting of the Hon Justice
Goddy Anunihu led Akwa Ibom State National and State Houses of Assembly
Election Petition Tribunal sitting at the Customary Court, Dutsen Alhaji
, Abuja witnessed the dramatic appearance in court of the Akwa Ibom State APC
Governorship Candidate, Obong Umana Umana . Umana whose symbolic entry
into the court was greeted with a standing ovation from both counsels and party
faithfuls was accompanied by a former three term member of the House of
Representatives, Rt. Hon Bernard Udoh and other chieftains of the APC.
At the resumed hearing of the trial,
chairman of the tribunal, Hon. Justice Goddy Anunihu requested that the
petitioners counsel, Assam Assam (SAN), do apply for the leave of the court and
retrieve the Akwa Ibom North West senatorial election results tendered on
Tuesday by the Akwa Ibom state chairman of the APC, Dr. Amadu Attai.
The chairman urged the petitioners
counsel to retrieve Exibit B23 and B24 and provide serial index of the
documents to aid easy referencing and documentation.
In line with the request of the
tribunal, counsel to the petitioner, Chief Assam Assam (SAN), officially
applied for the leave of the court to retrieved the March 28, 2015 Certified
True Copy of the Akwa Ibom North West senatorial district results earlier
tendered on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 to provide index for ease of identification
and present same to court.
Counsel to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd
respondents raised no objection to the application. The tribunal thereafter
adjourned the case to Thursday, August 6, 2015 for the continuation of the
trial.
