BY EMMANUEL NICHOLAS

The Government of Mr Udom Emmanuel will be dedicated to the salvaging the underprivileged. Poverty has no conviction, hunger has no credo, and despair has no topography. The greatest challenge before Udom is to end the expletive of jobs to the teeming unemployed youth in Akwa Ibom State.
His government will not be satisfied with mere poverty alleviation; but will be commits itself to the goal of poverty abolition. With a firm belief that the first claim on development belongs to the poor; Udom will focus his attention on those who need the rudimentary provisions of life most urgently. He will take necessary steps to provide safety in its entirety to all citizens; through understanding, support and empowerment.
Udom Emmanuel began his governance with key projects that made his five-point agenda: creation of jobs through the actualization of Ibaka Deep Sea Port, food sufficiency to annihilate famishment and creation of wealth through attracting foreign and local investments. Leadership is a verb, and productive leadership is an art. The art part is when you use your knowledge and decision to apply proven practices to the status quo you are in to produce effective results.
Udom’s preparedness to lead his people out of the civil service status is not any longer in doubt. In just about a month, the governor on of July 13 will be doing the ground-breaking ceremony for the establishment of the first automobile manufacturing plant in the South-South region, a plant which upon completion will employ more than 300 people.

The promise of industrialization in Akwa Ibom will received  a boost as the Ground Breaking ceremony for Apolo Bus Plant at Ikot Ukap, Ekim and Obong Itam in Itu Local Government Area was  performed by Governor Udom Emmanuel on July 13, 2015.

The Governor assured that  Ibom   Deep Seaport is an audacious attempt to re-write the maritime story of Akwa Ibom State. It holds the promise of an industrial revolution of our State. It holds the promise of the industrialization of Akwa Ibom. It holds the promise of the creation of over 100,000 jobs. It holds the promise of a self-sustaining commercial city with oil and gas support services. It holds the promise of our finally tapping into our awesome and largely untapped maritime potentials”.
The composition of the committee shows seriousness of Governor Udom Emmanuel in the actualization of this project.  The committee has Barr. (Mrs.) Mfon Usoro, a former Director General of Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency as Chairman while Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem, Mr. Chidi Izuwah, Mr. Idongesit Udofa, Engr. Ekong Umo-Otong, Rear Admiral Francis Akpan, Barr. Aniekan Ukpanah, Mr. Charles Udonwah, Mrs. Akon Eyakenyi and Engr. Etido Inyang as  members.
Ibaka Sea Port with a natural depth of over 30 feet deep that can berth any panamax ship is therefore a fortune that will turn around the Nigeria economy and eliminate extra spending for ship and goods owners in terms of duration of berthing and off-loading.
And this will make the country to end the loss of revenues to the neighbouring countries that Nigerians Importers and Exporters now berth their goods because of adequate Port for the ship and quick berthing, this causes the country to lose over 4 billion dollars yearly.
Akwa Ibom State with the best network of Roads in the country will make port to serve the South- East, south –South importers  and exporters better with less risk in the transportation of their goods to the destination while the rail will serve the Northern investors to safe delivery of their goods to their consumers.
Governor Udom is doing it right ,to ensure he transforms the State to an enviable height , let all Akwa Ibom people join hands bring these tall visions to realities
