100 Akwa Ibom youths departs to Israel for skill acquisition
 
Akwa Ibom State Governor Mr. Udom Emmanuel has charged youths sponsored to Israel on pilgrimage and skills acquisition to uphold high ethical standard in the holy land. 

Governor Udom stated this during the flag-off of the first phase of a special pilgrimage package for Akwa Ibom Youths selected from the 31 Local Government Areas of the State. 

He said the decision to partner with Israel follows the country’s advancement in agriculture and technology aside from the spiritual heritage that draws people from various part of the world for spiritual or economic benefits.  
Mr. Udom Emmanuel urged the youths to use the pilgrimage to acquire requisite skills that would aid advancement in the State’s agricultural development and Information Technology (ICT). He said the conduct of the first batch in the Holy land will make way for other youths to participate in the various training programmes offered by the Israeli government. 

The Governor said as future leaders of the State, it became imperative for the youths to be exposed to other knowledge relevant to the technological advancement in the global market. 

He used the opportunity to inform the 100 hundred youths who were selected to participate in the oracle training that the programme will soon commence. 

Governor Udom Emmanuel announced that the Federal Government Training programmes for youths on power generation, distribution and transmission was underway. He called on the relevant agencies charged with the responsibility of selecting the participants to ensure fairness and balance to accommodate every section as well as interest groups. 

The State Chief Executive called on the youths to avail themselves of the various opportunities offered to update their knowledge for self-sustenance. 

Earlier, the Secretary Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission, Mr. John Kennedy Okpara lauded Governor Udom Emmanuel for laying a solid foundation for the youths by giving them  opportunity to embark on a pilgrimage where they will imbibe moral and spiritual rebirth as well as acquire skills that would make them self-reliant. 

He said that in the present era of modern technology where the world has become a global family knowledge transfer was imperative and urged the participants to justify the huge investment on them by utilizing the knowledge gained to promote the economic well-being of the State.
