The Federated Abak Students Association (FASA) Worldwide, has elected new Parliamentarians to work and implement the programmes and policies of the Association. At the end of the election, Comrade Abasiofiok Ime Joe emerged the Speaker, Comrade Usenemem Manasseh Mkpang-Deputy Speaker while Comrade Imowo Matthew Sampson was elected as the Chief Whip. Similarly, Comrade Daniel Monday Umoh emerged as the Leader while Comrade Nnateiye Monday Udofia was elected as the Clark of the Parliament.
Speaking after conducting a free and fair election, the Chairman of the Electoral Board, Comrade Victor Mkpang flanked by the Electoral Board Secretary, Comrade Sampson Solomon and Electoral Board Member, Comrade Edidiong Jim, commended the Parliamentarians for the mature manner they conducted themselves during the election.
Comrade Mkpang advised them to shun personal interest, but should rather work for the interest of Abak Students.
In his speech, the President, Federated Abak Students Association, Comrade Itoro Augustine H, commended the Electoral Board for conducting a very transparent and peaceful election.
Comrade Augustine congratulated the new Parliamentarians on their emergence and called on them to join hands together and work to protect in interest of Abak students.
The President who promised to work together with the new Parliamentarians for the growth of FASA, advised them not to betray the government, but should support government policies and programmes.
In his acceptance speech, the Speaker of the Parliament, Comrade Abasiofiok Ime Joe thanked his colleagues, executive and members of Federated Abak Students Association for the confidence reposed in him and promised not to disappoint them. “I want too in a very special way thank my colleagues, the President, executive and the entire members of this great Association for the opportunity given me to serve as the Speaker of the Parliament. I want to assure you that I will not betray the confidence reposed in me”, the Speaker stated.
Comrade Abasiofiok Joe also promised to run an open door policy where everybody will be carried along.
He specifically commended the immediate past Speaker for the achievements recorded during his tenure and solicited the support and cooperation of all to enable them succeed.
The election was witnessed by executives and members of FASA including the Worldwide Secretary, Abasiama C. Sunday.
