In-form striker Aniekpeno Udoh says he is confident of ending the season on a high with Akwa United.
The striker, who has notched in six goals this season including four in his last four games in the league, told npfl.ng of his readiness to spearhead the Uyo side’s front line to a fantastic end to the season.
“It has been an exciting season so far and adequate progress has been made by the team and myself as an individual.

“Playing for a team in the top flight like Akwa United has been quiet challenging, but rewarding. I always strive to give my best to the team, because what is important for us here is to get results as a team,” He said.
Aniekpeno, who was reportedly booed by fans of the club in one of their first round matches at home in Uyo, told npfl.ng, he has put behind critics and set realistic targets for himself.
“I have put all issues behind. My aim now is to focus on scoring more goals and helping the team realize its target for the season.
“The fans always wanted the best out of me. Their criticism helped me a lot, to develop and become a better player. I saw it as a motivation and a reason to upgrade and be strongly committed to the course of the team and myself as a professional footballer,” the forward told npfl.ng.
On the team’s match day 25 home fixture against visiting Giwa FC, the striker said the momentum gathered from the lone goal win in the Federation Cup semi-finals against Nasarawa United in Abeokuta on Wednesday, will sustain the team to secure maximum points on against the Jos side.
“I am confident, the Fed Cup victory against Nasarawa United and subsequent advancement to the final will propel the team to grab all three points against Giwa FC. We suffered a disappointing defeat in the first round in Jos. We’ll turn the table this time round. They should expect huge defeat at the Nest of Champions on Sunday,” he said.
