Facilities in Govt Hospitals to be revamped – Health Commissioner

Facilities in some Government Hospitals are to be revamped for greater productivity in line with the policy thrust of the present administration. The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Dominic Inyang Ukpong gave the hint when members of National Association of Government General Medical and Dental Practitioners, Akwa Ibom State Branch visited him in his office.

Dr Ukpong explained that the move became necessary  in view of the dilapidated state of facilities in some Government Hospitals. He further said that the health system is to be fully computerized, medical soft wares installed for efficiency in the sector and Emergency Response ambulances to be acquired for prompt attention to emergency situations
The Health Commissioner appealed to workers in different segmets of the health sector to brace up and contribute meaningfully to the growth of the health care system so that the aim of rendering quality healthcare to the citizenry would be achieved.
Dr. Ukpong re-echoed government determination to accord training and re-training of health workers a priority to serve as a motivation for them to compete favorably their other parts of the world. He appealed for cooperation from health workers in order to move the state to a higher level of medical attainment.
Earlier, the chairman of the Association, Dr. Aniekeme Uwah represented by Dr. Prince Asuquo Effiong intimated the commissioner with some of the group’s activities which include, embarking on free medical outreaches, health enlightenment programs and community development projects.
Dr Uwah said that the association plans to organize a workshop on medical and surgical outreaches in support of government free healthcare programs.
He pledged the association’s collective desire to partner government in its efforts to enhance health care delivery in the state.
