Exhibit good motherly virtues and conduct – Commissioner urges women

Dr. Glory Edet
Women in the State have been enjoined to eschew all acts of gossiping and slandering as these are capable of tearing relationships apart, but rather to exhibit good motherly virtues and conduct, geared towards love, unity and togetherness, with the view of a better society for all. This was from the State Commissioner for Women Affairs & Social Welfare, Dr. Glory Emmanuel Edet, during a meeting she had with the State Executive Members of the Market Women Frontline Group in her office. While emphasising the virtue of love as an integral element of any successful society, Dr. Edet charged the women to be humble, submissive and obedient to constituted authorities, never to be conceited in any position they happen to occupy, adding that promotion only comes from God.

Dr. Edet, while reiterating the need for women to be disciplined, as well as have self-control at any given time, also used the opportunity to drum up more support for the present Administration of Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel and wife, Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Women Affairs & Social Welfare, Mrs. Cecilia Inyang, while also emphasing submissiveness and humility, tasked them to always ensure that they have self-respect in all of their outings, if they must be respected by people they come in contact with, while also soliciting prayers for leaders at all levels.
Speaking also, the President of Market Women Frontline Group, Obonganwan Grace Bassey, represented by the Vice President, Obongangwan Magdalene Udom, expressed deep appreciation to the State Governor, Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel for re-appointing Dr. Edet into the State Executive Council and subsequently redeploying her to the Ministry of Women Affairs & Social Welfare.
While pledging her Group’s unalloyed support to the present State Government, the President also used the opportunity to thank the Commissioner for her motherly advice, which she admitted, had helped to shape their lives for the better.
Also present at the event were Directors of Women Affairs, Mrs. Edima Ndaobong; Administration & Supplies, Mrs. Esther Inyang; Rehabilitation, Mrs. Taiwo Attah; Child Development, Mrs. Veronica Okon; Planning, Research and Statistics, Mrs. Enobong Okpongkpong; Social Welfare, Ms Mercy Ukpong; Heads of Accounts & Finance, Mrs. Iniobong Uboh and that of Legal Unit, Barr.
