State Ward 4 Elders Forum in Ukanafun L.G.A has congratulated Elder Aniekan
Simon Akpan on his appointment and the subsequent swearing-in by Governor Udom
Emmanuel as the honourable Commissioner for Education.
A release signed by the immediate past
Councilor representing the Ward at Ukanafun Legislature, Hon. Monday Thomas
Akpan, village council Chairman of Ikot Oku Usung, Chief Nsikan Jacob Ikoh,

Okon Ndak, Mr. Ntoro Nkanta and Chief Friday Idehufok described the appointment
as well-deserved, given his towering profile of performance.
The group further stated that given
his unparalleled records as the former Chairman of Ukanafun LGA and former
Lawmaker that represented the good people of Ukanafun State Constituency in the
state House of Assembly there is no doubt that he would use his reservoir of
experience to full advantage.
They expressed the hope that as a
professional teacher who had taught and managed schools in the state for 25
years and served as Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Education (2011-2015)
in AKHA, that the Commissioner has the insider’s knowledge of the education
sub-sector and intellectual wherewithal to grapple with the endemic dynamics.
The group urged all stakeholders to
exploit the open administration policy of the commissioner and make useful
contributions and support to enable the commissioner to succeed in goals-delivery.
The Elders Forum also pledged
undiluted loyalty to the State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel and his Deputy, Mr.
Moses Ekpo. They described the Governor as “a longstanding bosom friend of
Ukanafun people”, adding that their massive votes during the gubernatorial
election is a testimony and demonstration of their unflinching support to the
governor. They gave assurance that the Forum would continue to provide the
needed synergy for the government to succeed in its policies and programmes.
The forum, in the release also
congratulated the Member representing Ukanafun State Constituency in the Akwa
Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon. Otobong Jonathan Akpan on his election. They
expressed their avowed commitment and unflinching support to the lawmaker,
advising the entire people of Ukanafun to close ranks and join hands with the
lawmaker to leave a record of enviable achievements, maintaining that as a
young man who heralds hope, he would channel his youthful energy to the
development of the state constituency, just like he is expected to give the
people effective representation. They also sent warm felicitation to the member
representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency at the House of
Representatives, Obongunwana Emmanuel Ukoette.
The Forum also hailed Senator
Godswill Akpabio who represents Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District in the Senate
on his election and his emergence as the Minority Leader of the Senate of the
Federal Republic of Nigeria. The Forum reasoned that given his political
competence and sagacity as the pacesetter of Uncommon Transformation
Renaissance, who has taken Akwa Ibom State to the epicenter of national
discussion, “we feel proud to have given you the mandate to represent the good
people of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District” just as they prayed God for good
health, wisdom, and the requisite enablement for him to deliver on the expected
dividends.
