However, to appreciate God for the divine victory, the Lawmaker, who heads Committee on Youth, Sports and Security in the State House of Assembly, on Sunday led his family members alongside his gargantuan supporters on a thanksgiving service at the Methodist Church Nigeria, Ibiaku Ntok Okpo.
Speaking at the church service, the Ikono born ranking lawmaker revealed that though he was a member of the Catholic church, he was compelled to worship in the Methodist Cathedral because of the deep love and reverence he has for the church hierarchy and followership.
He thanked the Church for their ceaseless prayers and countless votes during the electioneering and posited that their votes, prayers and thanksgiving saw to his victory at the polls. “When I started out for my campaigns in 2011, this was the first church I visited.
What the Bishop said that day still resonates in my mind. He told me “hold into God and you will succeed” I have held into God and that is why I am succeeding and succeeding”, he told the congregation.
Rt. Hon Udofia used the occasion to thank God on his victory at the House of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal Sitting in Abuja, declaring that with the distraction that came with the case now sorted out, he was poised to deliver more dividends of democracy to the people.
He said,, “I will not change from the Hon. Victor Udofia of the first term who brought home a plethora of democratic deliverables. I will use my position to once again bring home more dividends of democracy”.
To make good his promise, the lawmaker informed the faithful that the Niger-Delta Development Commission (NDDC) through his facilitation would commence the
dualization of the Mbiabong road by 26 September, 2015.
He urged natives from of the area who cultivated along that axis to remove them before the said date so as to reduce the encumbrances on the contractor.
Rt Hon. Udofia also informed his constituents of an “oil spillage training programme” designed by the NDDC for qualified natives of the Niger-Delta and requested interested applicants from the constituency to submit their hand-written applications and curriculum vitae to the Interventionist Agency even as he promised to follow-up on them and ensure that a number of Ikono people are engaged in the programme.
The lawmaker also used the occasion to thank his darling wife, Mrs Joy Udofia for her prayers, support and encouragement and most especially for taking care of their wonderful kids.
He also thanked his teeming supporters and constituents who had turned up in their numbers to celebrate with him and thereafter made a handsome donation towards the growth of the church.
The thanksgiving which was tagged ‘God’s Own Time Is Now’ had in attendance several clergymen of the MCN, including the bishop of the diocese, Rt Rev Dr Effiong Esedeke, Very Rev Emmanuel Udoh, the cathedral administrator and presbyter of the Ibiaku circuit, the Cathedral steward Bro David Nyoro amongst others.
The lawmaker who observed that with unity and cooperation from all, Ikono will be like a cynosure of all eyes also used the event to call on people to support the Udom Emmanuel led administration in the State.
The Christians’ gathering was well attended by dignities from all walks of life, including the member representing Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency, Deacon Iboro Ekanem, Sir and Lady Jeremiah Efe, immediate-past Vice Chairman of Ikono Local Govt, Hon Benjamin Ukpeng, the DG, Victor Udofia campaign organisation and his team, as well as the former Commissioner, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Service Commission, Hon Anthony Usoro.
Others were; Hon Inem Inyangete Hon Ekan Ukpong Dr/Mrs Chris Ekpenyong, CMO, Sifon Clinic, Emmanuel Bernard Okon Okon Akpan, Dr David Bam, Pioneer chapter chairman PDP, Engr Nsini Nkopuduk, as well as members representing Etinan and Mkpat Enin State Constituencies, Hon Aniefiok Dennis and Hon Otobong Ndem.
The thanksgiving also featured praise and worship, songs ministration and intercessory prayers for Governor Udom Emmanuel led administration in the State as well as for the member representing Ikono State Constituency, Rt Hon Victor Udofia.
