Udom wins, gets INEC nod * We are happy for him, Umana will defeat him, APC strongman
The Independent National Electoral Com  mission INEC yesterday displayed the list of qualified candidates to contest the February governorship elections across the country. Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel and Obong Moses Ekpo made the list as the Akwa Ibom State Peoples Democratic Party governorship Candidate and running mate respectively for upcoming general election on February 28th.

The list released by INEC had the names of PDP governorship candidates in all the states except in Imo State. Earlier yesterday, the Peoples Democratic Party in a press release warned its members to desist from spreading falsehood. In a release signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Mr Olisa Metuh restated PDP’S commitment to a credible electioneering and issue-based campaign, saying that it would campaign in peace; with hope in the hearts of its leaders and members; with issues and ideas, and with its verifiable record of achievements.
Metuh in a statement on Friday said “the fact that the year 2015 unfolded with Eid-el-Maulud celebration has great significance and presents an important lesson to all Nigerians to live in peaceful co-habitation and brotherhood”.

The PDP scribe urged PDP aspirants who contested the primaries and lost to join hands with the Party’s candidates to campaign rather than lying to the public that the party will substitute any candidate, ‘’PDP is a discipline Party and would not compromise with any group no matter the blackmail and financial inducements’’.  The Party also advised its members to stop using the National working Committee and that of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in deceiving the Party faithful and the general public of their future inclusion as candidates of the ruling Party in various positions which they contested for and lost .

The Akwa Ibom State PDP Governorship candidate Mr Udom Emmanuel in his new message to Akwa Ibom people and Nigerians has urged the people to make the right choices at the general elections as the future of the society is in the hands of the people. ‘’This is a significant year for us in Akwa Ibom State, a year of history and great decision. A year we shall march to the polls to determine our collective destiny for the next four years and maybe for the next decade. The powers to choose between success and failure, growth and backwardness, wealth and poverty are in our hands.

We must not be carried away by the sentiments of this political season to lose sight of the burden of expectations of the future. What lies ahead of us requires a strategic plan and a competent leadership to execute the blueprints. After the euphoria of the elections, we shall be left to face the challenges of wealth, creation, continuous infrastructure and man power development, need for provision of basic amenities amongst other pressing economic, social and political demands. We must grow above ethnicism, falsehood and propaganda. We must put our best hands forward to save the future for posterity.

‘I solicit your votes to become the next governor of our dear state because I am prepared for this task. I have married the strides of the past with the expectations of the future. I acknowledge that Akwa Ibom State has been transformed from the pedestrian destination that nobody ever considered visiting, to a must-see wonder of infrastructure development, a prized destination, an economic hub and a recreational get-away. The journey to our dreams is still far away but we have made significant steps and with your support, I will take us there”. Udom concluded.

But promoters of the aspiration of Obong Umana Umana in a statement made available to our reporter says they are happy the PDP has finally settled on Udom Emmanuel. Umana’s men believe that they will defeat Udom at the general election. A statement from one of the media workers for Umana stated why the ex SSG will win and said, Umana Okon Umana, running as the Governorship candidate of APC in Akwa Ibom State, is by far the best of all the candidates:

He is an independent minded and courageous man who is not beholden to a godfather or family. Umana has not signed any bond with anybody on how to share Akwa Ibom money, appointments and contracts. Umana will NEVER be a stooge or lackey.

Umana is deeply knowledgeable about our state, its people and cultures. He has the ideas and well articulated policies on how to set up industries, create jobs and reduce poverty.  Umana will faithfully implement the Ibaka Deep Sea Port project to its conclusion.

Umana will never discriminate against any part or community of the state in distribution of projects, amenities and appointments. Every community and hamlet will benefit and receive its fair share

Umana will respect our elders, leaders and people. No cursing, no abusing, no name-calling and no insults.

Umana as the governor has repeatedly said that he will spend Akwa Ibom money in Akwa Ibom. He will not wast our common heritage in Abuja nad Lagos.

I ask other candidates to come out of their closets and state their vision for State. The stage appears to be set for the impending political war.
