Abiaokpo Community Holds Solemn Assembly
The people of Abiaokpo/Edem Idem Community in Abak Local Government Area recently organized a Solemn Assembly to seek the face of God for the remaining part of year and the New Year, 2015.

The Prayer Meeting which took place at Government Primary School Abiaokop/Ukana, featured choir rendition, praises, prayers and the inauguration of the new executive of Abiaokpo/Edem Idim Youth Council.
In this homely, Pastor Ekikere Umoh who spoke on the topic “Crossing Over”, explained that for someone to cross over, he or she must prepare well and have God as his Lord and personal Saviour.

Pastor Umoh regretted that some Christians do not remember to recognize God in whatever they do, stressing that lack of the knowledge of God contributed to the high rate of criminality in the society. “If you want to cross over, you have to prepare well by having God as your Lord and personal Saviour”, the man of God stated.


Pastor Umoh thanked the Planning Committee and the two village heads for inviting him to come and minister at the prayer meeting.

He also thanked God for the victory of one of the illustrious sons of the community, Elder Friday Iwok at the recently concluding PDP Primaries, pointing out that with continuous prayers the community would in the nearest future produce a Senator and a Governor.

Prayers were offered for unity, peace, progress and protection while Qua Iboe Church Choir, Saint Michael's African Church Choir, The Apostolic Church Choir and Christ Apostolic Church Choir added colour to the occasion with beautiful renditions.

Inaugurating the new executive for Abiaokpo/Edem Idim Youth Council, the Village Head of Abiakpo, Obong Emmanuel Umoren described the emergence of the new youth body as a new dawn which will usher in development to the community. Obong Umoren charged the leadership of the youth body to emulate the footsteps of the founding fathers whom he noted, worked tirelessly for the development of Abiaokpo community.

The Village Head prayed God to give them wisdom and enablement to discharge their duties effectively.

Also speaking, the Village Head of Edem Idim, Chief Edidiong Isaac prayed God to use the Solemn Assembly to bring peace, love and unity into the community.

Chief Isaac thanked the people of the community for coming out for the prayer meeting and expressed the hope that the blessing of God will follow those who attended the Solemn Assembly.

In his address, the President Abiaokpo/Edem Idim Youth Council, Deacon Mfon E. Iwok JP expressed gratitude to God for the successful constitution and inauguration of the Youth Council.

Deacon Iwok explained that the Youth Council is non political, but rather, a group recognize to spearhead the progress of the community.
The president described the Solemn Assembly as unique as according to him, it has regenerated the spirit of togetherness among the people of Abaiokpo/Edem Idim community.

His speech, the Member representing Abak State Constituency in Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Elder Friday Iwok charged the newly inaugurated youth body to fear not, but should be courageous.

Elder Iwok advised them to put God first in whatever they do, pointing out that when they remember God, everything they do will be successful.

The lawmaker expressed happiness with the formation of the youth body and commended them for the achievements they have so far recorded in the community. “You must respect and give the village heads 100 percent support to enable them succeed. If you do not have one mind, you cannot do anything. You must work to deliver Abiaokpo. So, you must do what is right, respect the elders and try to see how to unite us,” the Assembly man advised.
