PDP attacks Effanga posters * Mike Enyong, Murray fingered

* Perpetrators should know that they are not the only persons who can tear campaign  materials, ex-commissioner hits back

Except something very urgent is done by the  Police and some politicians from Uyo restrain themselves, there may be a political turmoil in the state capital. This follows the determination of some supporters of Mr. Samuel Effanga to launch a reprisal attack on the posters and campaign materials of Dr. Michael Enyong and Mr. Monday Eyo popularly known as Murray.

Our reporter gathered from competent sources that about Wednesday of last week down to the weekend, some persons who are said to be working for Dr. Mike Enyong and Monday Eyo all of the PDP were caught tearing and bringing down posters of the leading House of Representatives Hopeful for Uyo federal constituency, Hon Samuel Effanga.

THE INK reporter was informed as a matter of fact that the PDP agents see Effanga as the man to beat in the race on who occupies the lower Chambers of the National Assembly for Uyo federal constituency and hence decided to begin to attack the facilities of Effanga by forcefully bringing down his posters.

Eye witness account reports that these acts are mostly carried out along four lane Edet Akpan Avenue, Nwaniba, Oron road and at other major locations in Uyo. When asked why the PDP agents will resort to such attack on Effanga’s campaign materials, some indigenes of the federal constituency hinted our reporter that the PDP sees Effanga who has since moved to Accord Party as the only obstacle to Mike Enyong’s ambition and hence has decided to apply such antics in order to get their way through.

Some of the youths who spoke to our reporter maintained that the people of Uyo federal constituency and especially Uyo Local Government Area knows that the damaging of Effanga’s posters is done by Mike Enyong who is a sure bet to lose the House of Representatives election. They said, they were not so certain whether Monday Eyo would sponsor such calamity but promised that they will not allow the antics of Enyong and that of the PDP to stop them from ensuring that Effanga wins the House of Representatives seat come next election. They however sent warnings to Mike Enyong, Monday Eyo and the PDP saying whoever is responsible for the damage and attack on Samuel Effanga and her materials should desist from such acts as they will be left with no other option than to reply them accordingly as according to them, Enyong and Murray are not the only persons that can damage peoples posters.
When contacted, the House of Representatives hopeful Hon Samuel Effanga said, it has been brought to his notice by some of his supporters that his posters and other campaign materials were forcefully removed at strategic locations in the state capital. He said on getting the information, he had gone a step further to confirm and discovered same to be true.

Effanga added that why he is still investigating privately to find out the factors responsible for it, that he wishes to warn politicians not to begin a fight against him by tearing his campaign posters as they will not win that particular war. Effanga reminded those behind the attack on his campaign materials that they should not claim monopoly of violence as according to him tearing of posters will not do anybody any good.

Effanga meanwhile appealed to the people of Uyo federal constituency to see him as the man that will give them the best of effective representation at the green chambers of the National Assembly. He said he has been with his people and that he understands the problems facing the people of Uyo federal Constituency and that he is ready to fix them.

He also spoke on why he left the PDP to Accord Party saying the PDP in the state failed to allow internal democracy to prevail in the conduct of the nomination exercise that brought about emergence of candidates that will fly the flag of the party during the forthcoming elections.

He said, it was very unfair for the party to have treated her members the way it did noting that if the Party had allowed internal democracy to prevail where delegates had to vote for candidates that all aspirants would have taken the outcome of the election in good faith. He maintained that he has no regret leaving the PDP to accord party. He said as a candidate of the Accord Party, he has seen democracy in action in the party and that he is ready to do everything within his legal powers to ensure that the AP wins election in the state. He decried the actions of the PDP which he described as totally unbecoming of a political party that seeks to protect the rights and privileges of her members.

The former commissioner noted also that given a fair and level playing field that the ruling party will be shocked and amazed by the outcome of the elections of 2015. He called on the people of Uyo federal constituency to see the Accord Party as their own and mobilize support for it.
