* Women affairs commissioner turns slave to Unoma Akpabio

It was a total show of shame at the Akwa Ibom  State House Assembly when the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs. Glory Edet turned to a slave to the wife of the State Governor, Her Excellency Mrs. Ekaette Unoma Akpabio.

The ugly scene occurred on Tuesday inside the hallowed Chamber of the AKHA when Governor Godswill Akpabio presented the 2015 budget proposal to the Akwa Ibom State House Assembly members.

Our source that was inside the Chamber to witness the presentation of the 2015 budget, said it was so shameful that while everybody were listening to Governor Akpabio during his presentation, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs. Glory Edet was busy fanning the Governor’s wife with newspaper.
While the budget presentation which lasted for about two hours (from 5-7pm), THE INK gathered that the attention of everybody inside the Chamber were diverted as some were wondering why a whole Women Affairs Commissioner could reduced herself as well as her office to a level of becoming a slave at a public gathering just to ensure that Unoma Akpabio was happy, others were said to have openly condemned the act which they described at a high level of eye-service on the part of Mrs. Glory Edet.

Those who sighted the ugly show of shame by the Women Affairs Commissioner, frowned at a situation, where a serving commissioner turns to a slave by fanning Akpabio’s wife, adding that it was not a sign of respect or loyalty, but rather it was a show of shame as well as abuse of office as it has never happen before in a public function in Akwa Ibom State, a serving commissioner could used a newspaper to fan the wife of the Governor even when she felt tired, she was doing so just to satisfy Her Excellency, the mkpouto Akwa Ibom.

In a brief interaction with our reporter shortly after the budget presentation, one of the PDP woman leaders who pleaded her name not to be mentioned on the print, said “that is what all this women both female council chairmen, commissioners, lawmakers as well as female appointees in this present government who have been following Unoma Akpabio to events passed through most times. In most cases, Akpabio’s wife always see herself as semi-god, she always treat female appointees as slaves even the way she always talk. How can she ask a whole Women Affairs Commissioner to fan her with newspaper for over two hours inside the House of Assembly Chamber? Budget presentation, an event that was showed live on the television, this is slavery” she maintained.

 Before the presentation of the budget, THE INK gathered that Unoma Akpabio is said have arrived the House of Assembly complex and was being escorted in to the chamber by some women appointees. Unoma Akpabio went straight to a sit that was preserved for her. She later had to change her position where she joined all the commissioners as well as Special Advisers at the visitor’s gallery. Women Affairs Commissioner, Mrs. Glory Edet is said to have rushed to welcome Akpabio’s wife after which Unoma had to engage her by giving the Commissioner a newspaper to start fanning her.
