Hon. Asuquo Udo Darby is not a happy man at the moment. This is not because he is in need of food, shelter or clothing. But the aged ex Assemblyman who represented Nsit Atai at the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly from 2007 to 2011 is unhappy because the House which he once belonged to had lost its sanctity.
Darby spoke on phone to our reporter last Tuesday in his own reaction to the manhandling of the member representing Nsit Ubium State Constituency Barr Onofiok Luke by a combined force from chairman of Essien Udim Local Government Area, Mr. Nse Ntuen and member representing Abak/Ika/Etim Ekpo Federal Constituency Mr. Emmanuel Ekon.
The former lawmaker said “the sanctity of the House has been destroyed on the issue of Onofiok Luke being attacked by Nse Ntuen and Emmanuel Ekon”.
Speaking further, Darby maintained that NSe Ntuen and Ekon shouldn’t have taken such a step in harassing Onofiok Luke whom he described as a well respected lawmaker. He described Nse Ntuen and Ekon as people who are unfit to pull out the shoes of Onofiok Luke. He said those people (Nse Ntuen and Eman Ekon) taking such a step on somebody whose shoes they can’t even pull out makes me think the House of Assembly, the 5th Assembly is not worth its salt”.

The former lawmaker however advised the Sam Ikon led 5th Assembly to take disciplinary measures on Nse Ntuen a council chairman who had the guts to raise a hand on a distinguished House of Assembly member. He further charged the leadership and members of the Assembly to at all times represent their constituencies well while also charging them to watch over their colleagues in the Assembly at all times.
