The current romance between the erstwhile Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Umana Umana and the former National Chairman of the defunct All Nigerian People’s Party (ANPP), Chief Don Etiebiet will soon hit the rock following a recent revelation that the later is on a mission to thwart the 2015 governorship ambition of the former, THE INK gathered.
Key loyalists of Obong Umana Umana hinted our Political desk that “Chief Don Etiebet is sent by Governor Akpabio and other Annang politicians to kill the ambition of the former SSG whom they consider a threat to their determination to impose a stooge in 2015”. The source also said that the plot was leaked to his principal, Obong Umana some weeks ago by an Annang man whom he refused to name.
It would be recalled that Chief Don Etiebet, a founding father of the ruling PDP was in 2002 decamped from PDP to ANPP, allegedly on the instruction of the ruling party. The paper can authoritatively report that there were lots of crisis in ANPP during his chairmanship which led to the party losing so many states and seats in the National Assembly.
The paper also gathered that Chief Etiebet’s sudden resignation from ANPP and the warm reception he received in PDP immediately made political analysts in the country to conclude that he was sponsored by the Obansanjo-led PDP to destroy ANPP, “why was he received back into PDP and was re-admitted into the BOT of the party immediately?” our source queried.
THE INK gathered that Umana Umana and his group are now very cautious with Chief Don Etiebet and have refused to take him into confidence.
