Emmanuel Ekon: An irresponsible lawmaker

Emmanuel Ekon: An irresponsible lawmaker

He is the member representing Abak, Ika, Etim Ekpo federal constituency at the National Assembly. He got his emergence into the House not because he was exceptional but because the powers that be just wanted to favour him.

Unfortunately when Ekon got to the House of Representatives, he got lost in the crowd of the National Assembly. He did not go there with creativity neither has he offered anything in terms of effective representation. A lawmaker that has failed outright and has completely lost touch with the realities of what service is all about.

As shameless as he was, he got himself enmeshed in an open and flagrant display of callousness and foolishness. It was totally uncalled for a person like Ekon to have rushed to assault the member representing Nsit Ubium State Constituency, Hon Onofiok Luke simply because he wanted to settle some ethnic scores and also hoped to go for a second term and he feels by doing so, Gov. Akpabio will be happy and will ensure he gets a second term at the lower chambers of the National Assembly. He failed.

If second term is a product of a well delivered first term, why is Ekon considering another term at the National Assembly after wasting his first term? He feels Royal blood flows in him. Ekon as unintelligent as he was must have thought he was doing the Governor some good not knowing that he was wasting his time.
I wouldn't want to compare the two men (Onofiok Luke and Emmanuel Ekon) even when they appear to belong to the same political party and they belong to the legislative class apart from the fact that both are mere mortals and were born by women. I doubt if ten of Emmanuel Ekon can match an Onofiok Luke, in all honest aspect of life.

If a section of the society in the state are crying ethnic attack on Luke, one should not be bothered afterall what happened that fateful weekend was a red pointer to the fact that Onofiok Luke is only being jealoused by Ekon and his likes. If actually Victor Udofia of Ikono state constituency had beaten up Aniekan Akpan of Ukanafun state constituency during the last executive session at the House of Assembly, it would have been pertinent that the two men be encouraged to reconcile themselves rather than Ekon reading ethnic meanings into it and joining forces with Nse Ntuen to attack Onofiok Luke.

For Nse Ntuen, since he feels he is the new emperor of the Akpabio dynasty, he should not forget that what goes around comes around. And Ekon had better understand that Akwa Ibomites are not fools because the people of Ibibios, Annangs, Ekid, Obolos and other ethnic nationality will always live together as one irrespective of the irresponsibility and the antics of the likes of Ekon, Nse Ntuen and their cohorts. I rest my case.
