Info boss tasks SBTC graduands on moral rectitude

The Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr. Aniekan Umanah, has charged graduands of the Samuel Bill Theological College, SBTC, Abak, to join the administration of Governor Godswill Akpabio in the fight against moral decadence.

The Commissioner gave the charge recently in the college premises at Ikot Ekang in Abak, during the Graduation ceremony of the 2010/2011 and 2012/2013 graduates of the Post Graduate Diploma in Theology and Higher Diploma in Ministerial Studies of the College.

Mr. Aniekan Umanah who was the Chairman of the occasion, urged the graduands to preach the gospel of moral rectitude to rid the State and indeed the Country of Societal ills.

He indentified such ills to include, youth restiveness, corruption, kidnapping, assassination, child labour and abuse, as well as the menace of fake pastors, which he said “are against the teachings of God’s kingdom.”
Represented by a Deputy Director in his ministry, the Information helmsman said,  the Government of Chief Godswill Akpabio identifies with the goals of the graduands, geared at towards remoulding the people in order to meet the standard of God by fighting sins and societal ills. 

Mr. Umanah who emphasized that the State Government is committed to ensuring a crime-free society for the people, said that the Governor has demonstrated his commitment, through a number of empowerment programmes  put in place to gainfully engage youths in the State
He congratulated the graduands for accepting to join the government in the onerous task of  remoulding the people for the benefit of the Society and the kingdom of God at large.

The Commissioner expressed appreciation to the Management of Samuel Bill Theological College, SBTC, Abak, for weathering the storm-  to keep the aspirations of the Institution alive and pledged his support and that of the State Government towards the development of the College.

In his welcome address, the Provost of Samuel Bill Theological College, SBTC, Abak, Rev. Iniobong Udoudoh, said 173 graduating students were   passing out of the College after a successful completion of the three theological programmes of the Institution namely, Ministerial, Degree and Post graduate program—mmes.

The Provost disclosed that “there is an ongoing process to concretize affiliation of SBTC with University of Uyo,” regretting that the college is facing teething problems that have hindered the rapid transformation of the College and called for support from the State Government.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the Governing council of the College, Elder (Prof.) Idorenyin Inyang, expressed gratitude to the Standing Committee of Qua Iboe Church Nigeria on his appointment and lauded the contributions of the out-gone Provost of the College, Rev (Dr) Victor Phillip and the former Administrator of the College, Late Rev E. C. Udoka.
