More revelations over ownership of Uyo Night Club

The popular elite Play Terrace night club came into the news when the nephew to the state Governor, a university of Uyo law student, Prince Ukpong Akpabio went wild sometime ago in June this year and after attacking a female customer at the Club, descended heavily on a certain Uche, a customer also in the club. The jnr Akpabio who is also known as Mega, is said to have ordered his police attachees to pocket his victim inside the booth of his car and said to have driven the young man to his Ewet Housing residence for more torture.

Eye witnesses had informed the newspaper that trouble started when Prince Akpabio who was obviously drunk went over from his table in the club where he was sitting with friends to another and started touching and caressing a lady who was also enjoying herself with her female friends.  According to the eye witness, Prince caressed sensitive body parts of the females on the table, boasting that he is the Governor’s brother and that he will pay them.

Obviously embarrassed by Prince’s ignoble act, one of the ladies who obviously did not know nor care who Prince was warned him to stop harassing them. It is in the process that the intoxicated Prince got angered and molested the lady for daring to challenge him.

A certain Ekemini and Tony Akan, the latter being the Council Chairman of Uruan are said to have tried rescuing the lady from being strangled but they were rebuffed. The said Uche was next who tried to rescue the lady but he met stiff resistance and was beaten up in the process by the governor’s brother.

For daring to challenge to release the lady, Prince went down stairs, and ambushed Uche to be thought the lesson of his life. Some persons in the club are said to have advised Uche against going out immediately, but after waiting for about an hour, Uche is said to have summed up courage and went downstairs.

On sighting Uche, Prince ordered his police orderlies to drag him into the booth of his car.  Uche was later released after being stripped nude and molested by Prince and his police orderlies.

The said information was later heard by the Governor Godswill Akpabio who is said to have summoned Prince to Abuja where he was at that time. To prove his dislike for unruly behavior Akpabio is said to have lashed some slaps to Prince. The victim Uche is said to have thereafter been compensated by the Governor with the sum of about five million naira.

Akpabio thereafter ban his aides and all the persons that had anything to do with him to stop forewith from going to the club. Ever since the Governor placed such embargo, there have been problems faced by the managers of the club. One of the managers informed our reporter that the Oga had summoned them to a meeting were they explained exactly what happened to him. He said the owner of the club was furious and however threatened to deal with both the manager of the club and some of his managers.

When asked whom the real owner of the club is our source said, it is very likely it belongs to the Security adviser to the Governor and added that the man rather wishes to remain behind the doors to run the packaging of the club. One of the staff of the club in an interaction with THE INK last week said, most of the people that patronizes the club do so because of the influence of Captain Iniobong Ekong, rtd.

It was not very clear whether the registration of the club or the company that supervises the club was done in Uyo as efforts to meet with the registration officer proved abortive.

Meanwhile, Captain Iniobong Ekong, rtd has denied ownership of the Club stressing that he has no link with Play Terrace directly or indirectly. Speaking through his counsel, Barr Obio, Captain Ekong denied Play Terrace and however summoned a news blog www.connoisseurNG.com which first reported the Prince assault story to court and is demanding five hundred million naira for damages. The blog is managed by Ifreke Nseowo who also doubles as the Managing Editor of Community Pulse Newspapers. When contacted, some customers of the club whom are mostly Council Chairmen, Assembly members, Aides of Governor Akpabio said they do not know any owner of the Club apart from Captain Ekong.

Two of the Council Chairmen informed our reporter that they had to register with one hundred thousand naira at the Club because it is Captain Iniobong Ekong’s investment. An Assembly man told our reporter that, Captain Ekong cannot run away from the Club as it remains hundred percent the ex-Nsit Ubium Transition Chair initiative.

While urging Captain Ekong to desist from denying his property, he appealed to customers at the Club to always behave properly no matter how highly placed. While pleading for strict anonymity, our source maintained that if people like Prince Ukpong Akpabio, a.k.a Mega had behaved himself properly, Iniobong Ekong wouldn’t have found himself in this condition.

Meanwhile, THE INK can authoritatively report that not less than twelve Council Chairmen are registered members of the Play Terrace Night Club. Some House of Assembly members, and Akpabio’s aides are also active members. Even some Commissioners are also on the roll call of Play Terrace Club.

WATCH OUT FOR THE NAMES OF COUNCIL CHAIRMEN, COMMISSIONERS, HOUSE MEMBERS, GOVERNOR’S AIDES WHO ARE REGISTERED AND CONFIRMED MEMBERS OF PLAY TERRACE NIGHT CLUB.
