Ita Enang preaches ethinic harmony amidst tension, anxiety BY EMMANUEL AKPAN

The Senator representing Uyo Senatorial District, Senator Ita Enang was totally confused last Saturday at a meeting he convened at Sheer Grace Arena, Nsikak Eduok avenue Uyo.

The meeting which was attended by PDP chapter and ward officers in the Senatorial District, political stakeholders, youth leaders as well as former and present political office holders, was meant to discuss important issues concerning zoning of governorship as the election year draws nearer.

Senator Ita Enang who had wanted to address the crowd after an opening prayer offered by one of the women leaders from the senatorial district was advised not to say anything concerning 2015 and zoning in particular after he held a consultation with some stakeholders on the high table.

The Senator, in his eventual address of the crowd said that he deemed it necessary as the Senator representing Uyo to call for a meeting in order to address some fundamental issues affecting the District which he feels is capable of dividing the senatorial district.

In his words “the Opinion of some political stakeholders are divided, so we will set up a committee that will dialogue and come out with a communiqué”
Ita Enang however apologized to those who were invited to the recent meeting called off by him; stating that an issue he had wanted to discuss in the meeting suffered a set-back. According to him, he discovered that there was no unanimity of agreement after series of private consultations he held with stakeholders and this led to the postponement of the meeting.

The Ink gathered that Senator Ita Enang, while hinting the people of his second term ambition come 2015, vowed that he will do everything possible to agree with the decision of the major political stakeholders which will also be acceptable by a greater number of people in the Senatorial district. He also advised the people to desist from fighting ethnic war and embrace peace for the interest of the state as the 2015 general elections draw closer.

The Senator dismissed the meeting with a sum of 10million Naira after appealing to the people to support the administration of Governor Godswill Akpabio till 2015, while hinting that the committee set up by President Goodluck Jonathan ahead of the National dialogue will be visiting the state soon.  He also urged the people to go back home and get prepared to welcome the committee members; charging them to contribute ideas that would form topics for discussion during the National dialogue.

The Ink can authoritatively report that after the senator ended his speech; the entire hall was rowdy with youths singing “all we are saying give us Governor from Uyo senatorial district come 2015”.
