I am a PDP man, APC campaign posters are handwork of detractors…Ekpoudom

As the race for the 2015 elections gather momentum, some desperate politicians have adopted desperate measures towards victory. One of the plots hatched is to print and circulate posters of highly respected members of the society with a view to blackmailing them in the eye of the government and the people. This desperateness has led to some people printing and posting fake posters of DIG Udom Ekpoudom with an allegation that the retired Police chief wants the senate seat of Ikot Ekpene senatorial district  on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Ekpoudom has however denied the posters arguing that he has never authorized the posting of the posters. He also reiterated that he remains a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP.

In a press release, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Udom Ekpoudom (rtd) has distanced himself from campaign posters linking him to the Senatorial ambition of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District by 2015, under the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC).

APC Campaign posters with the inscription “Right Choice 2015, vote Prince Udom Ekpoudom for Senate, Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District by 2015” was seen in some parts of Ikot Ekpene senatorial district with the picture of the retired DIG on it.

In the press release made available to newsmen, Ekpoudom stated that the campaign posters are the antics of the people who are afraid of his rising profile. He maintained that those behind the campaign posters are only trying to blackmail him in order to gain cheap popularity and favour from quarters known only to them.

Ekpoudom stressed that while it is true that he is under intense pressure from the good people of Ikot Ekpene senatorial district to contest the 2015 senate seat for Ikot Ekpene senatorial district, he has not yet made up his mind whether to contest or not.

The retired DIG added that it is the height of confusion; irresponsibility and fear that would make people assume that he is a member of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and will be contesting election on the party platform.

He maintained that he is a card-carrying member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who is not contemplating leaving the party for another and also reiterated his unflinching and unalloyed loyalty to the party PDP.

Prince Ekpoudom stated further that he has not directed any person or group of persons to print and circulate campaign posters on his behalf.
He stressed that if he eventually succumbs to the pressure from his people of Ikot Ekpene senatorial district and decide to run the 2015 Senate position, he will do so on the platform of the PDP, his party.

The Retired Police boss however stated that investigations have been launched with a view to unraveling those behind the posters which he described as misleading and promised that the full weight of the law will be made to catch up with those behind the act.

Ekpoudom maintained also that he is not intimidated by the antics of blackmailers whom he advised to go and learn a trade.
