Engineer Frank Okon, the dawn of a new era

Akwa Ibom State should not cease to sing hymns of praise to a man who has successfully taken us to this height, followed by vigorous programs designed to heal the wounds and bind the State together as one. In the whole range of politicians at this time, there is hardly anyone who can lay claim to equality with him in the rare gift of originality and distinction, a hater of hum bug, a man whose spirit, no reverse can daunt and no success can destroy. His genius lies in his infinite capacity to manage problems; nothing was too great or small for his personal attention.
A man entrusted by fate with the destiny of Akwa Ibom State. He never allowed himself to be tossed hitter and thither by advisers motivated by selfish ambition and greed. The government in waiting will represent a complete departure from Akpabio’s led government and all which previously was made ineffective will be reactivated and tagged “radical departure from one man show”.

Our Governor in waiting is one of those rare specimens of human being who combines the gift of unparallel efficiency coupled with a quiet and modest air entirely devoid of the weakness of ambition and greed. He threw himself into his task with all vigor and left no one in doubt of his determination to enhance the State effectively.

Akwa Ibom State prestige and honour have never been as publicly acclaimed as it is soon going to be when Engineer Frank takes charge. He perceives that one of the greatest achievements one can attain is to create the necessary political base and environment within which every word said means economic growth plus change. With him, education will move forward in the State to an unprecedented stride, government formation will receive adequate attention; there will be no time to ask for better roads, hospitals or for other social necessities, because it will be visible. As a unifying force, he promises to lay the ghost of political oppression, fashion a code of conduct for public officers as well as enforce public accountability, guarantee press freedom, safeguard civil liberties, break the back bone of cultism service and fashion a bold and dynamic policy, rescue the State from evil influences of politicians, establish an equitable, even-handed policy for revenue allocation, stop the rat race, protect the interest of the minorities, make Akwa Ibom proud of their father land and make politicians including public officers disgorge their ill-gotten wealth and otherwise, pay enslaving humanity, give the State a new lease of life and run the State along purely ideological lines with universal suffrage. Engineer Frank Okon’s progressive achievement will be seen.

History cannot be complete without mentioning the realistic and bold attempts made by him, to curb the reign of the evil genius, setting up strategies that would give a clear and positive direction in the State. This assurance itself gives the State a robust confidence that will go a long way towards creating an atmosphere of peace and tranquility. He promises to give the people greater freedom in the determination of their own affairs and a free and more direct access to the government.

In a courageous stroke, he will go into the heart of the perennial problem created by Akpabio Governor and will create another success feather in his cap. He once said that he would rather lie in a silent grave remembered by both friends and enemies as one who remained true to his conviction and who never faltered in what he believed to be his duty, than ride on temporary crest of the wave of popularity and in the end lack the confidence of friend and foe. He has a dynamism and fearless quality, maturity of judgment, political vision and devotion to duty, a man of courage and willpower, which is why he has accepted the burden of leadership at this time.
