 Soccer fans in Uyo celebrate Golden Eaglets victory
Football fans in Uyo on Friday jubilated after the Nigerian Golden Eaglets won the u-17 World Cup. 
The feat which also records Nigeria as the first to win the cup for the fourth time after handing a comprehensive 3-0 defeat to Mexico at El zayed stadium in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates was lauded by a cross section of fans who spoke to our sports editor at Kalahari Bar at Obio Imo.

The fans who expressed happiness attributed the Golden Eaglets feat as well as the winning of the competition to hard work discipline.

A soccer fan, Simeon Akra while expressing his happiness said that the outstanding display by the Nigeria u-17 National team was so commendable “the brilliant display of the youngsters will take Nigerian football to the next level”.

Enobong Ikpe, in his joyous mode said he was following the performance of team since their first group F opening match which the Golden Eaglets white-washed the defending champion, Mexico 6-1, adding that he was not surprised to see the Golden Eaglets survive the defeat again.

Another soccer fan who spoke, Savior Akpan added “my sports writer, you see, Super Eagle should emulate this small boys in their style of ball possession. They are determined to score rather than romancing with the ball. I pray this same set of players will be used when ever U-20 competition is coming up”.

Apart from winning the cup, Nigeria also won the FIFA fair play award while Kelechi  Iheanacho won the Golden Ball (for the best player) and the Silver boot for emerging the second highest goal scorer with six goals behind Bolden Berisha of Sweden, who won the Golden boot with seven goals while the Nigeria’s shot stopper, Alampasu won the Golden Glove; having emerged the best goal keeper in the competition.
