PDP, Stakeholders move against Ita Enanag * Senator in dilemma over 2015

The last may not have been heard of the misfortunes that have befallen Senator Ita Enang following the botched meeting of his senatorial District which he convened last Sunday. The meeting which was meant to discuss pressing issues of the senatorial district ahead of the next general elections failed to hold due to what major political players from the senatorial district described as Ita Enang’s political instability.

The meeting which attracted prominent chieftains of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party was called off hours before commencement even after the embattled senator had received money from the state Governor to host the event.  It was gathered that stakeholders had insisted that Senator Ita Enang will have to declare his stand on his support towards the 2015 guber race which he has carefully been avoiding following the ouster of his mentor the former Secretary to the State Government, Obong Umana Umana.

With this development, Ita Enang is said to have been avoiding meeting with major stakeholders of the district to make his position known on the 2015 guber race. Matters were made worse when Senator Effiong Bob returned to challenge for the position of the political leadership of Uyo senatorial district. Bob in returning to capture structures had been holding series of meetings where he has been promoting zoning the Governorship to Eket Senatorial district.

Governor Akpabio is said to have empowered Ita Enang to host the meeting and declare support for Eket senatorial district. The embattled Ita Enang had accepted but however developed cold feet few hours to the commencement of the meeting and the meeting failed to hold. No reason was given as to why the meeting was put off abruptly.
Meanwhile, this development has forced political stakeholders of the region to renew their call that Uyo Federal Constituency should produce the next senator for the senatorial district.

Recently, stakeholders in Uyo Senatorial District had at a meeting convened by a former Senator from the area; Senator Effiong Bob declared the need for equity and justice in the senate seat in 2015.
The people of Uyo Senatorial District have condemned in strong terms the show of shame which characterized the botched meeting last Sunday which was scheduled to hold at the Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio Hall along Udo Udoma Avenue, Uyo.

Representatives across the senatorial district who thronged the venue on Sunday expressed disgust at the attitude of the embattled senator as no formal statement was made before the meeting was suddenly called off.    Investigations further revealed that the sudden cold feet and botched meeting was taken to avoid an open condemnation on Sen. Ita Enang’s political representation on the interest of Uyo Senatorial District in 2015.
With the changing political tempo in Uyo senatorial district, chances of Ita Enang winning a second term to the senate appear cloudy.

However, some stakeholders who spoke to our reporter on condition of anonymity said that Senator Ita Enang was ridiculed and cajoled by the Senatorial District elders who are loyal to Umana Umana including the likes of Obonganwan Rita Akpan, Dr Maurice Ebong, Otuekong Sunny Jackson Udo and others that the meeting can only hold if Ita Enang is willing to dismiss the meeting with One Hundred million naira, a life cow and a brand new vehicle.

This development, our source maintained did not go down well with Ita Enang and sensing that the Elders and those sympathetic to them may disrupt the meeting, the embattled Senator took cover and botched the meeting.

Governor Godswill Akpabio is said to have been uncomfortable with the development and must have directed that the meeting be hold today Tuesday 12th November, 2013 against all odds. It is very likely that the meeting may take place today at Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio Hall, along Udo Udoma Avenue. But Ita Enang hopes of taking charge of Uyo Senatorial District and launches his second term bid is falling as major stakeholders in the area have risen to fight him with a categorical statement that Uyo Federal Constituency produces the next Senator for the area.

As things are, Ita Enang is not having the best of political times and is not enjoying the support of Uyo Senatorial District.
