The State Commissioner for Finance,Mr. Bassey Albert Akpan has again been conferred with Golden Public service Award by the Nigerian Society of Engineers, NSE,Uyo branch.
At the award investiture which was the high point of the 2013 Engineering Week celebration of NSE, at the Multipurpose hall of Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio,Udo Udoma avenue, the Commissioner was presented with the Golden Plague by the National Vice President of NSE,Engr.Otis Anyaeyi FNSE,who stood in for the National President at the occasion.
Presenting the prestigious Award to Mr Bassey Albert, Engr. Anyaeyi said the Honor was in recognition of his outstanding and invaluable contributions towards engineering the Uncommon Transformation Story of the state through the Inter-ministerial Direct Labor -the nerve centre of the Governor Akpabio’s broad based infrastructural transformation.
The NSE National VP observed that as Chairman of this state government intervention Agency, Mr. Bassey Albert whom he described as an illustrious Commissioner has displayed commitment, consistency and passion in superintending over the numerous ,viable, life touching and quality construction of Engineering infrastructures across the state. He noted that the successful execution and commissioning of over 6000 of those projects, varying from construction and renovation of school buildings, electricity, Solar powered water supply, construction of market stalls, etc in the 31 local government areas are eloquent testimonies of the unchallengeable records of Mr Bassey Albert’s focused accomplishments.
In his response, the Finance Comissioner thanked the Nigerian Society of Engineers for the Honour done him and assured of his support and loyalty to the body.
He dedicated the award to the Almighty God for giving him the talent and wisdom to excel, and to Governor Godswill Akpabio for believing in his capability to assist in the delivery of his people oriented transformation agenda by giving him the opportunity to serve in his cabinet.
Mr. Bassey Albert was honored alongside two of his colleagues in the State Executive council ;the Commissioner for Works, Mr. Don Etim and that of Special Duties,Barr. Emanuel Enoidem, as well as other eminent personalities.
The occasion was witnessed by the Secretary of Inter ministerial Direct Labour Committee, Very Rev. (Dr.) Otuekong Ukut, the Uyo Branch Chairman of NSE, Engr. Benjamin Ekanem, Directors and Staff of the State Ministry of Finance ,members of the Interministerial crew and a host of others.
Meanwhile, the Member representing Ibiono Ibom in the state House Of Assembly, Hon Barr. Ime Okon has congratulated Mr. Bassey Albert Akpan on the conferment of the award on him by no less a Professional body than the Nigerian Society of Engineers.
Engr.Ekanem said the prestigious award is well deserved judging from Mr .Bassey Albert’s track-record of achievents in Public Service,describing him as a source of inspiration to the younger generation.
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, Elder Nse Ekefre also congratulated the Comissioner for Finance,Mr Bassey Albert Akpan,saying that the honor is a reward for hardwork and passion for excellence.
He wished him God’s protection and more blissful moments of accomplishments.
