Umana makes case for Foreign Investors
 
The Commissioner  for Information and  Communications, Mr Aniekan Umanah, has called on investors to explore and tap the abundant resources available in the State with a view to expanding their business horizon.
The call was contained in a Presentation made by the Information Commissioner to Participants in the National Defence Course 22 Geo- Strategic Study Tour of Akwa Ibom on, “THE STRENGTHS, WEAKNESSES, OPPORTUNITIES AND THREATS, (SWOT} ANALYSIS”.

Mr. Aniekan Umanah who emphasized that “the State is blessed with numerous untapped endowments viable for Deep seaport exploration, Upstream and Downstream sectors investment, Petro-chemical industry, beach and sea-side recreational facilities as well as gas and crude oil conversion and marketing, among others, implored investors to utilize the opportunities to boost their businesses.
He listed the strengths of the State to include purposeful and pragmatic political leadership; arable land, suitable for an all year-round agricultural ventures; and over 129km coastal sand beaches; clement weather, skilled manpower; friendly people as well as peaceful and beautiful environment.
Others include, a robust Civil Service, impartial Judiciary, harmonious Executive/Legislative synergy, enviable mineral deposits, infrastructural facilities and sufficient security apparatus, among others.
The State Information Commissioner however noted the inadequate Federal presence, ecological problems and cross boundary incursion as the major weaknesses of the State. He added that natural disasters and nation-wide religious, political and socio-cultural crises are the major threats of the State.

While analyzing the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats of the State, Mr Aniekan Umanah acknowledged with optimism that, the Strengths and Opportunities of the State, outweigh and over shadow the Weaknesses and Threats therein. This he said “has resulted in the trail-blazing success story and high points of the Uncommon Transformation programme of the Governor Godswill Akpabio administration.”
