Top officials of Ibom Power Company on Thursday April 27, embarked on an inspection tour of its two substations situated in Uyo metropolis to ascertain the extent of work done and the way forward.
The inspection team which was led by the company’s managing directior and chief executive officer, Engr. Meyen Etukudo (Mnse) had the board chairman Engr. Etido Inyang and other officials accompanying him.
The team first visited the Company’s sub – station located at Edet Akpan Avenue (Four Lanes) where the managing director, Engr. Meyen Etkudo emphasized on the significance of the energy generating project to Akwa Ibom State and its people. Engr. Etukudo said upon completion, the sub – station had the capacity to feed that area of Uyo and its adjoining communities with uninterrupted power supply and said it was ninety percent completed.
At the Afaha Ube sub – station which was the second port of call, Engr. Etukudo said the station was strategically located for power generation to that area of Uyo, Ikot Ekpene and its environs.
The board chairman, Engr. Etido Inyang said the government of Governor Udom Emmanuel was a people centered government hence, its determination to ensure constant power supply which will boosts the economic life of the people. Engr. Inyang said the station was a 2/15 MVA sub – station with 330 KV lines and shall generate 24 megawatts of electricity.
He however said, that due to the passage of time some equipments and tools in the sub – station had worn and needed to be replaced and that, according to him, entailed more money. He said optimal security of the facilities was being planned for, as government intends to enter into a public private partnership with residents and host communities towards ensuring the safety of these energy generating plants.
He implored residents to keep an eye on the plants as it was meant for public good.
