Building prisons for Nigerian youths will never be a better option than providing opportunity for them to serve the nation as good citizens as championed by the Peace Corps of Nigeria.
This position has been expressed in an advice to the Nigerian Senate by a socio-political group which called on the Senate to continue to support the legislative processed for the Federal Government backing of the Peace Corps of Nigeria.
The major socio-political group in the South-South, Effective Action for Security and Peace in Nigeria, EASPIN made the call recently in Port Harcourt in a statement, expressing strong disappointment at contributions on the floor of the Senate made against the Peace Corps Bill by Senators James Manager and Akpabio, the two major South-South Senators expected to have supported the debate on the Bill.
According to EASPIN spokesman, Comrade Otobo Ibinabo, Senator Akpabio who is reputed for having always built strong security in his state while serving as Governor, should continue to support better security structure for the whole of Nigeria.
EASPIN advises Senator Akpabio to support the favourable majority position on the Peace Corps Bill, as such would go a long way in leading to more opportunity for Nigerian youths and their dependents as one Peace Corps Employee could have about three other Nigerians to cater for.
