Following a petition against Mrs Elsie Esara the Transition Committee Chairman of Itu Local Government Area by three of her Transition Committee members, the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has ordered Mrs. Esara to appear before her today during plenary.
The House committee Chairman on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Idongesit Ntekpere, yesterday during plenary presented an interim report, which recommended that the Transition Chairman appear before it today and explain to the House why she disrespected by refusing to honour earlier invitation sent to her by the House.
In his remarks, Hon. Nse Ntuen representing Essien Udim State Constituency, expressed bitterness over the refusal of the Council boss to honour the invitation of the House. The lawmaker who had served as a council chairman before described the action of Mrs. Elsie as unacceptable.
“A mere Transition Committee Chairman have disrespected this House, even as a former Council Chairman, presently a Lawmaker, I never failed to appear before the House or any other Agency for any query but Esaras behaviour portrays the littleness of this Assembly, I agree with Committee Chairman for he to appear before the 26 members of this House and the entire AkwaIbomites.
The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Onofiok Luke, on his reaction, directed the Clark to communicate the invitation to the Transition Chairman to appear today Thursday.
