A total of 153 indigenes of Mkpat Enin Local Government Area are to benefit from the first edition of Engr. Otobong Ndem’s skill acquisition programme.
This was contained in a release made available by the Chairman of the planning committee of empowerment and skill acquisition committee, Tpl. A. Ufot-Akpabio.
According to the release, 91 persons are to benefit from skill acquisition while 62 individuals are to get financial empowerment which is nonrefundable. The statement revealed that the beneficiaries will benefit from financial empowerment ranging from 200,000 naira to 50,000 naira after they must had completed the seminar billed for three days(22nd to 24th may 2017) which is billed to hold at Mkpat Enin Unity Hall.
The empowerment programme, the release added will be the best of its kind in the history of Mkpat Enin and beneficiaries will cut across all the Political blocks and wards in the local Government promising that the initiative will continue yearly.
The statement added that the skill acquisition and empowerment initiative will precede the constituency briefing of the legislator which will come up later in the year or early next year, 2018.
The Chairman said that the initiative is part of the Honourable member’s drive to ensure that he touched lives in the 87 villages of the Local Government Area. He stressed that those to be trained on Skills Acquisition are to be trained for one year and at the end will be issued with starter packs and tool box to begin work.
He noted that House member has before now empowered many people who have opened different businesses within and outside Mkpat Enin LGA stressing that the initiative was done in consultation and inputs from major stakeholders of the state.
The Planning Committee Chairman promised that Hon. Otobong Ndem will further encourage those who will be committed to their various businesses with funds to expand and take their businesses to a higher level, adding that the lawmaker intends to float a scholarship scheme targeted at helping the less privilege to grow and acquire basic levels of education.
The release said that the programme is the lawmaker’s way of giving back to his constituents and also in support of the State Governor Deacon Udom Emmanuel’s industrialization drive and a call to greatness as enshrined in the Dakkada creed.
