The Chairman Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria IPMAN Coordinating Committee for Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Ubong Isong has assured the general public that their overall interest is top on IPMAN priority in order to give optimal services as well as partner with relevant agencies and government to serve the people better.

Pastor Ubong Isong, a onetime Auditor IPMAN 2000 – 2003 and Secretary 2006 – 2016 Akwa Cross respectively gave the assurances while fielding questions from newsmen in his office Uyo recently barely six months after his inauguration as the Chairman IPMAN Coordinating Committee Akwa Ibom State.

He said with over nineteen years of experience in the business which has earn him different positions in the organization, he was coming in to inject fresh and innovative ideas that will not only give its members a sense of belonging but lay a solid foundation that will stand the best of time.

Pastor Isong who is a onetime Special Adviser to Chairman IPMAN Akwa Cross described himself as competence and vested with numerous experienced to pilot the affairs of the Union within his tenure.

The union Chairman noted that though the business has been fluctuating over the years, but expressed appreciation to God that so far within his short tenure, there has been a relative peace between his union, government and the public, despite the unstable business climate, linking it to the non functionality of the refineries with near total dependent on imported products.

As part of his numerous experience as a marketer over the years, the MD Full-Time Nig. Ltd hinted that Nigeria depends on importation of refined goods for survival of the business because she can’t process the raw material and refine here, that has led to sky-rocked prices whenever it is sold back to us in Nigeria with greater chunk of it refined outside the country.

Proffering solution to these problems, the Former Secretary Akwa Ibom State Caucus enjoined the government to established refineries in Nigeria in order for the product to be sold at cheaper rate just as it is witnessed in the Telecom industry.

According to the IPMAN boss, “By doing this, definitely you will see that the business would be competitive. For those operating illegal refineries, for me, I will advice the government to look for those with good technology, incorporate them with a license in order to engage them positively”.

He promised to restore the lost glory of IPMAN, and harp on the need for accurate measurement and prompt delivery just for the sleety of the business.
He equally pointed out that his tenure will enjoy robust partnership with IPMAN monitoring team, security agencies and government, even as he would also ensure the security of its members to aid them perform their business effectively.

For erring members, Pastor Isong added: “we have a disciplinary committee to sanction defaulters because we are law abiding and patriotic union, and our target is to bring sanity to the petroleum industry”.

He said in order to discharge their duties well, there is need for the State Government to prevail on management of NNPC/PPMC at Abuja to increase their allocation of PMS to Akwa Ibom State marketers in Calabar and Port Harcourt Deport as the current allocation is grossly insufficient, however solicited for daily supply of about 44 Tankers Trucks of PMS to Akwa Ibom State.

Accordingly, Pst. Isong admonished the State Government to embark on dredging of Ikot Abasi water ways as it would help ease problems encountered in bringing in products to the State while boosting the economy of the State, revenue and employment opportunity.

He used the opportunity to advice the Government to invest in the sector by buying bulk petroleum products into tank farms for supply to marketers at Government rates.
