The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel has warned the dethroned Village Head of Nung Ette Ibesikpo, Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area,Chief Archibong Etim Udo Ekpenyong to stop parading himself as the Village Head of the village.
The Governor’s warning is contained in his (the Governor’s) letter dated 24th April, 2017 and addressed to him.
The withdrawal of official recognition from Archibong Etim Udo Ekpenyong is sequel to the conviction of the duo of Chief Archibong Etim Udo and Chief Edet Effiong Ekpo on the 23rd June, 2016 by the Uyo High Court presided over by His Lordship, Hon. Justice Abraham (now the acting Chief Judge of Akwa Ibom State) in Suit No.: HU/21c/2009: THE STATE VS CHIEF ARCHIBONG ETIM UDO & OTHERS, for stealing the sum of N750,250.00 belonging to Nung Ette village.
In a press release signed by the Community Leader and former member, Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Thomas O. Akpan, Nung Ette village in Ibesikpo Asutan LGA is now ruled by the Caretaker Committee under the Chairmanship of Chief Edem Asuquo Ekpo.
The Caretaker Committee which membership include Chief Edem Asuquo Ekpo, Family Head, Nung Usen, Chairman, Chief Edem Edet Ananaenyin, Family Head, Nung Nkanga, Chief Augustine Edet Valentine, Family Head, Nung Akpan Ukpong, Chief Etim Asuquo Etim, Family Head, Nung Iyak Etok, Chief Promise Okon Asuquo, Family Head, Nung Ekpot, Chief Raphael Effiong Edet, Family Head, Nung Umo Efon, Chief Effiong Tom Ekpenyong, Family Head, Nung Udo Eme, Mr. Benedict Effiong Etim, Vice Chairman, Mr. Bassey Asuquo Ekpo, Member, Mr. Ene Asuquo Mathias, Secretary, Mr. Mfon Edet Ananaenyin, Member, Prince Sylvanus Akpan, Member and Mrs. Brigid Effiong Udoette, Women Leader, was endorsed, accorded recognition and sworn-in by the late Paramount Ruler in-Council of Ibesikpo Asutan LGA, His Royal Majesty, Edidem Ita Bassey Etuk in his letter dated 10th September, 2016.
The release also advised members of the public to desist from dealing with Chief Archibong Etim Udo Ekpenyong as the village head of Nung Ette.
