The Peoples Democratic Party in Itu Local Government Area has come out very hard on the member representing Itu/Ibion Ibom Federal Constituency in the National Assembly describing him as a total failure, a disappointment and a disgrace to Akwa Ibom.
Addressing newsmen in a press parley yesterday in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital yesterday, The PDP Deputy Chapter Chairman of the Local Government Area Bernard Okon Ekpenyong who said he was speaking on behalf of the party in Itu LGA described as abysmal, unconvincing and a blow to the high expectations of the people of the Federal Constituency.
The PDP Deputy Chapter Chairman who is a former councilor representing East Itam 3, Ward 5 in Itu Local Government Area, added that it was unfortunate that the people of the Federal Constituency have been left with a representative that has failed them in representation and also flopped in terms of empowering his kinsmen.
Hon Archibong, a Medical Doctor, has been the representative of the Federal Constituency for almost two years having won election into the Green Chambers in 2015.
The Deputy Chapter Chairman of the PDP who also hails from the same Ward as the Federal House Member said it was sad that their efforts in making sure that Hon Archibong won election in 2015 have been wasted by his poor representation.
According to the party chieftain, “His performance is dismal. He lacks vision and has not been influential enough in the House to attract anything back home”.
Continuing, he said, looking at the strides other lawmakers have recorded, Henry Archibong does not come near, he has continuously shown reasons why he should not have been elected in the first place to go to the National Assembly.
He maintained that the backwardness of Henry Archibong in his legislative duties is what is responsible for the inability of the National Assembly man to chair any committee in the National Assembly as according to him Speaker Yakubu Dogara cannot entrust him with any responsibility as Chairman of committee.
Flanked by other stakeholders of the party in Itu, the vice Chairman averred further that it is sad and callous that Henry Archibong whom he described as an unknown quantity in the National Assembly will have the mind to use words anyhow on people back home.
He described, Henry Archibong as funny and confused, a man who cannot speak up at the National Assembly but has the strength to come back home and used words like illiterate, busy body, stupid and all others on the same people who stood for him when he sought the position he is presently occupying.
The former Itu Councillor said, he will only have to advice Dr. Archibong to forget about a second term as he has demonstrated enough fled tendencies for a re-election.
In the home front, the Itu PDP boss said, the party so far is satisfied with the achievements of Governor Udom Gabriel Emmanuel as the Governor of Akwa Ibom State. He stressed that he will mobilize vigorously for Governor Emmanuel to win a second term and described Emmanuel’s leadership strides as wonderfully impacting on the lives of the people of Akwa Ibom State.
Efforts to reach Henry Archibong to comment on these allegations proved abortive as at press time.
